Terraria reached its “final” major update, 1.4 Journey’s End, in 2020, but Re-Logic has continued to ship sizeable free content patches since — including the 1.4.4 “Labor of Love” update and further 1.4.5 content. Each update tends to reignite the game’s player base and adds new items without invalidating older strategies. All guides here target the current 1.4.4/1.4.5 era of the game.
Terraria features dozens of bosses split across two phases of play. Pre-Hardmode includes King Slime, Eye of Cthulhu, the Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu, Queen Bee, Skeletron, Deerclops and the Wall of Flesh. Defeating the Wall of Flesh triggers Hardmode, which adds the three Mechanical Bosses, Plantera, Golem, Duke Fishron, Empress of Light, the Lunatic Cultist and finally Moon Lord. See our boss order guide for the full recommended sequence.
Yes — Terraria supports multiplayer for up to 8 players via hosted servers or peer-to-peer. Cross-platform play is limited: PC players (Steam) play together, and console/mobile cross-play support varies by platform and version. The simplest setup for friends is to all play the same edition. Many mechanics, including boss health, scale up with the number of players in a session.
Difficulty is chosen at world creation. Classic (Normal) is the standard experience. Expert Mode increases enemy health and damage, changes some boss attack patterns, and unlocks exclusive Expert-only accessory drops such as the Worm Scarf. Master Mode raises difficulty further still, grants an extra accessory slot, and adds Master-exclusive pet and trophy drops. New players should start on Classic and move up once comfortable with boss patterns.
