How to Get the Zenith in Terraria

The Zenith is Terraria's ultimate sword — and the single most complex item to craft in the entire game. Getting it means collecting 10 other swords, several of which are themselves crafted from smaller sub-recipes, spanning everything from a Pre-Hardmode starter weapon to a post-Moon Lord boss drop. This guide lays out every ingredient, where it comes from, and the order to put it all together.

01Why the Zenith Is Worth the Grind

The Zenith deals 190 melee damage with a 30 use time and a boosted 14% critical strike chance (double the base 4%). Its real power is its special attack: swinging it rapid-fires a spread of the swords used to craft it in an arc toward the cursor, and those projectiles home in on enemies within 20 tiles. It is widely considered the best (or close to the best) melee weapon in the game, and finishing it is treated as a completionist milestone since it touches almost every stage of progression.

The final craft happens at a Mythril Anvil or Orichalcum Anvil, but almost everything leading up to it is boss drops, event drops, and Hardmode crafting.

02The Full Recipe: All 10 Swords You Need

The Zenith is assembled directly from these 10 swords. None of them are consumed anywhere else, so plan to hold onto every one until the final combine:

• Copper Shortsword — craft from 5 Copper Bars at an Iron Anvil or Lead Anvil, or use the one most classes start with.
• Enchanted Sword — break an "enchanted sword in stone" statue found underground or in an Enchanted Sword Shrine (very common drop when you do), or fish it from a Golden Crate or Titanium Crate.
• Starfury — found in Skyware Chests, Sky Crates, or Azure Crates on Floating Islands (25% chance from each).
• Bee Keeper — dropped by the Queen Bee boss (33% chance).
• Seedler — dropped by Plantera's second form, or from her Treasure Bag in Expert Mode and above (12.5% chance either way).
• The Horseman's Blade — dropped by the Pumpking boss during the Pumpkin Moon event (2.5% on early waves, rising to 12.5% by wave 20).
• Influx Waver — dropped by the Martian Saucer during the Martian Madness event (16.66% chance).
• Star Wrath — dropped by the Moon Lord, or from his Treasure Bag in Expert Mode and above (20% chance either way).
• Meowmere — dropped by the Moon Lord, or from his Treasure Bag in Expert Mode and above (20% chance either way).
• Terra Blade — not a drop at all; you build this one yourself (see below).

03Building the Terra Blade From Scratch

The Terra Blade is the deepest sub-tree in the whole recipe. Work through it in this order:

1. Craft Night's Edge at a Demon Altar or Crimson Altar from Light's Bane (or Blood Butcherer, whichever your world generated), Muramasa, Blade of Grass, and Volcano — four early Hardmode swords in their own right.
2. Upgrade to True Night's Edge at a Mythril/Orichalcum Anvil: Night's Edge + 20 Soul of Fright + 20 Soul of Might + 20 Soul of Sight (all three drop from Hardmode enemies at night).
3. Get an Excalibur — craft one from 12 Hallowed Bars (dropped by the three mechanical bosses) at a Mythril/Orichalcum Anvil.
4. Upgrade to True Excalibur at a Mythril/Orichalcum Anvil: Excalibur + 24 Chlorophyte Bars.
5. Get a Broken Hero Sword — this only drops from Mothron, which can only appear during a Solar Eclipse after Plantera has been defeated (which, in practice, also means the three mechanical bosses are already down). Drop chance is 25% in Classic/Normal Mode, 43.75% in Expert Mode and above.
6. Combine all three — True Night's Edge + True Excalibur + Broken Hero Sword at a Mythril/Orichalcum Anvil produces the Terra Blade.

04Farming the Boss and Event Drops Efficiently

Five of the ten swords depend on RNG from a boss or event, so the fastest route is to line them up with your natural progression instead of farming them all at the end:

• Queen Bee (Bee Keeper) and Plantera (Seedler) are both fights you'll do anyway on the way to Golem and beyond — just keep re-fighting them a few extra times if the sword doesn't drop.
• Pumpkin Moon and Martian Madness are timed events you have to trigger manually (a Pumpkin Moon Medallion and a Martian Conduit Plate, respectively). Farming the later, higher-drop-rate waves of Pumpkin Moon is far more efficient than restarting the event repeatedly.
• Moon Lord drops both Meowmere and Star Wrath independently at 20% each, so on average you'll need several kills — but every Moon Lord kill also drops Luminite and lunar fragments you likely want anyway.
• Mothron for the Broken Hero Sword is easy to miss: it only spawns during a Solar Eclipse after Plantera is dead, so start checking your world's Eclipse notifications once you've cleared the Underground Jungle boss.

05Final Assembly at the Anvil

Once all 10 swords are in your inventory, head to a Mythril Anvil or Orichalcum Anvil to finish the recipe. The Zenith's crafting station lets you combine the Copper Shortsword with any one of the other nine swords first, and then keep combining the result with each remaining sword one at a time, in any order — the game handles the exact intermediate steps for you, so you just need all 10 present at once and enough anvil visits to work through them.

Nothing about the order changes the final result; it only matters that every one of the 10 is in your inventory before you start combining.
