Privacy & Cookies
This page explains, in plain English, what data HowToPlayHub collects, why, and what control you have over it. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site.
HowToPlayHub is operated by Radim Sekera, an independent software developer based in the Czech Republic, reachable at contact@howtoplayhub.com. Last updated: 30 August 2026.
What we collect
- Newsletter email — only if you tick the box and sign up. We store the address, the fact that you consented and the page you signed up from, and use it solely to tell you when new guides go live. You can unsubscribe at any time, and asking us to delete it removes the record.
- Messages you send us — if you email us, we keep your message and address for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of a correction you reported. Nothing more.
- Basic usage data — we use Google Analytics 4 to count which pages get read and on what kind of device, and it only runs once you accept the cookie banner. It does not identify you personally, and we don't try to.
- A page counter — separately from that, opening a page tells our own server which page it was, and the server adds one to a daily tally for that address. It stores no cookie, no identifier and nothing about you or your device, so there is nothing in it that could be traced back to a person — which is why it runs without asking. It exists so we can see which guides are worth updating.
We do not sell your personal data, and we don't ask for sensitive information.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We may use:
- Essential cookies — needed for the site to work (e.g. remembering preferences).
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic anonymously, only after you accept.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense to choose and measure the ads on this site. See Advertising below.
You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings, and decline non-essential cookies via any consent prompt shown on the site.
Advertising
This site is free because ads pay for it. Advertising is provided by Google AdSense, which uses cookies and similar technology to choose which ads to show and to measure whether they worked. We never pass your email address, or anything else you send us, to Google or to advertisers.
The AdSense tag is present on our pages, but the site is still going through Google's review, so no ads are being served yet. When they are, this section stays accurate — and if we ever change what runs here, the date at the top of this page moves with it.
Our cookie banner asks before any analytics or advertising cookie is set, and it runs on Google Consent Mode v2 with every consent signal denied by default in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — nothing is stored there until you choose Accept. Elsewhere, where no opt-in law applies, analytics and advertising signals start as granted and switch off the moment you click Decline. Declining is a real option: you keep the whole site, and once ads run, the ones you see just aren't personalised. You can change your answer at any time by clearing this site's cookies in your browser. Google's advertising policies: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Third parties
Some features rely on trusted third-party services — for example an email/newsletter provider, web fonts, and analytics. These providers process data under their own privacy policies. Embedded content (such as an official video player) may set its own cookies when you interact with it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw consent (for example, by unsubscribing). To make a request, email contact@howtoplayhub.com — see the contact page.
Children
HowToPlayHub is a general-audience gaming site and is not directed at children under the age required by your local law for data consent. We don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
