Elden Ring Nightreign is a co-op roguelike action RPG developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, released on May 30, 2025. It is a standalone spin-off of Elden Ring, not a sequel or DLC. Players choose from eight playable characters called Nightfarers and embark on three-day expeditions through Limveld — a procedurally modified version of Limgrave — fighting field bosses to gear up before facing a Nightlord on the final day. Expeditions support up to three players cooperatively, with solo and duo modes also available.
Yes. Solo play is supported and can be selected at the Great Site of Grace in the Roundtable Hold — change Expedition Type to Single Player before starting. In solo mode all enemies and bosses have their HP reduced (roughly one-third of their trio-mode HP), and you earn approximately 60% more runes from all sources. A special item called the Wending Grace, purchasable from a merchant on Day 2, allows a single self-resurrection. Wylder and Ironeye are the most beginner-friendly choices for solo runs.
There are eight Nightfarers in the base game: Wylder, Guardian, Ironeye, Raider, Recluse, Executor, Duchess, and Revenant. Six are available from the start; Duchess and Revenant must be unlocked by meeting specific in-game conditions. Each Nightfarer has a unique passive ability, a character skill, and an ultimate art that defines their role in an expedition.
The base game features eight Nightlords: Gladius (Beast of Night), Adel (Baron of Night), Gnoster (Wisdom of Night), Maris (Fathom of Night), Libra (Creature of Night), Fulghor (Champion of Nightglow), Caligo (Miasma of Night), and Heolstor (the Nightlord — the true final boss). Each is linked to a specific expedition type, and which Nightlord you face on Day 3 depends on the expedition chosen at the start of the run. The Forsaken Hollows DLC adds two additional Nightlords.
Relics are passive modifier items earned from boss kills, field events, and shops during an expedition. Each Nightfarer has three relic slots, and relics can be stacked — multiple copies of the same effect increase its magnitude. Relics are saved between runs and can be organised into named presets via the Relic Rites menu (up to 100 presets as of patch 1.03.2). Effects range from universal damage boosts to character-specific synergies that dramatically change playstyle.
