Palworld Best Weapons by Tier

Updated July 20267 min readBy the HowToPlayHub team

In Palworld you fight with both your Pals and your own gun — and against tough Alphas and tower bosses, your personal weapon often decides the fight. From the humble starter Bow to the endgame Rocket Launcher, this guide ranks the best weapons by progression tier, explains how to unlock and craft each, and shows how to pair weapons with Pals for maximum damage.

Quick answer

Early on, the Bow then the Crossbow carry you cheaply; by the mid-game the Assault Rifle becomes the all-round best weapon for sustained boss DPS, with the Pump-Action Shotgun for burst and the Rocket Launcher for raw single-target damage. Unlock weapons in the Technology tree, then craft them at the Weapon Workbench (later the Production Assembly Line) using Ingots, Refined Ingots, and parts. Pair any weapon with a same-element Pal so your gun and your Pal hit the boss's weakness together.

01How Weapons and Crafting Work

Weapons are unlocked as Technology recipes using Technology Points (from leveling and catching new Pals), then crafted at a workbench from materials. Higher tiers need better stations and refined materials:

Schematics also matter: some weapons drop as schematics with rarity tiers (common to legendary), and a higher-rarity schematic produces a stronger version of the same weapon. Always craft from the best schematic you have.

02Best Early-Game Weapons

Your first weapons are cheap and ammo-efficient — perfect for catching Pals and early Alphas without draining resources:

Keep the Bow even after you unlock guns — its low-damage, low-cost shots are ideal for whittling Pals to catch-range HP without accidentally killing them.

03Best Mid-Game Weapons

The mid-game is where firearms take over and fights get dramatically faster:

Build a Weapon Workbench and keep an ammo supply chain running — the Assault Rifle only shines if you can feed it ammunition, so set up production before relying on it for boss fights.

04Best Endgame Weapons

At endgame you want maximum single-target damage for legendaries and the hardest tower bosses:

Endgame loadout: a Rocket Launcher for opening burst on a legendary, then switch to a high-rarity Assault Rifle for sustained damage once you have applied status and chipped its HP.

Palworld 1.0 (July 2026) added 13 new weapons alongside the Sunreach and World Tree endgame regions — check the in-game Technology tree for the full current list, as several new high-tier options target specific content in those zones.

05Pairing Weapons with Pals

Your gun and your Pal should attack the same weakness. A boss weak to Ice takes far more damage if you ride or fight alongside an Ice Pal and apply status effects with your weapon:

FAQ

What is the best weapon in Palworld?

For sustained damage against bosses, the Assault Rifle is the best all-round weapon from the mid-game onward — high DPS, good range, and reliable once you have an ammo supply. For raw single-target burst against legendaries and Alpha bosses, the Rocket Launcher hits hardest, though its ammo is expensive. Many endgame players open with the launcher and switch to a high-rarity Assault Rifle for the rest of the fight.

What weapon should I use early in Palworld?

Start with the Old Bow — it is cheap, uses inexpensive Arrows, and its low per-hit damage is ideal for weakening Pals to catch-range HP without killing them. Upgrade to the Crossbow for more punch while still using cheap ammo, and keep a melee weapon as a backup. Hold onto the bow even after unlocking firearms, since it remains the safest tool for catching.

How do I get better weapon schematics?

Higher-rarity weapon schematics drop from defeating tougher enemies, Alpha and tower bosses, dungeon chests, and certain merchants. A higher-rarity schematic (up to legendary) produces a stronger version of the same weapon, so always craft from the best schematic you own. This is one of the biggest power increases available without changing weapon type.

Do I need to match my weapon to a boss's element?

Firearms deal physical damage, so your gun itself is not element-locked, but your active Pal should match the boss's elemental weakness. Fight with a same-weakness Pal while your weapon provides steady ranged DPS, and use status effects to soften the boss. Pairing a type-advantaged Pal with a high-DPS weapon like the Assault Rifle is the fastest way to clear hard bosses.
