It is a direct sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance (2018) and continues the story of Henry, a blacksmith's son caught up in the wars of 15th-century Bohemia. The game is notable for its commitment to historical realism: no magic, no fantasy creatures, and a combat system modelled on actual medieval swordsmanship. It runs on PC (Steam and GOG), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
No, but it significantly enriches the story. KCD2 picks up directly where the first game ends, and characters, relationships, and choices from KCD1 carry forward. The sequel opens with a recap of the previous game's events, so you can follow the plot without having played it — but fans of the first game will get far more out of the narrative context. KCD2 is available as a standalone purchase and does not require KCD1 to run.
KCD2 uses a directional melee system: you choose from five attack directions (top, bottom, left, right, and a thrust), and the enemy defends based on which direction they anticipate. Parrying requires timing a block to the moment of impact — indicated by a green shield icon.
