KCD2 Dice Game Guide Rules, Scoring & Loaded Dice
The dice minigame in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2) is a version of Farkle: roll six dice, set aside scoring ones, and decide each time whether to bank your points or risk them for more. This guide lists every scoring combination, shows how likely you are to bust with each number of dice left, explains when to stop, and covers the special dice and badges that can tilt a match your way.
01How the Dice Game Works
Two players take turns until one reaches the match's target score. On your turn you roll six dice and must set aside at least one scoring die (or combination). You then either bank the points collected this turn and pass, or roll the remaining dice to try for more.
- Bust: if a roll contains no scoring dice, you lose all points accumulated this turn and your turn ends.
- Banked points are safe: once you end your turn voluntarily, those points go on the board and cannot be lost.
- Every roll needs a scorer: you cannot roll again without setting aside at least one scoring die from the last roll.
You can play at dice tables and with NPCs in taverns around the world. Before a match you may swap your dice for special ones you have collected (see below).
02Scoring Combinations
Values below match what several independent guides list for the base game.
- Single 1: 100 points. Single 5: 50 points. Other single numbers score nothing.
- Three of a kind: three 1s = 1,000; three 2s = 200; three 3s = 300; three 4s = 400; three 5s = 500; three 6s = 600.
- Four or more of a kind: each additional matching die doubles the previous value. Four 2s = 400, four 3s = 600, four 4s = 800, four 1s = 2,000.
- Straight 1-2-3-4-5: 500. Straight 2-3-4-5-6: 750. Full straight 1-2-3-4-5-6: 1,500.
Notice that a lone 5 is worth only 50 while a lone 1 is worth 100: going for three or more of a kind is where big turns come from.
03How Risky Is Another Roll?
The chance of busting depends on how many dice you still hold. These figures are our own calculation for standard fair dice using the combinations listed above (a roll busts when it has no 1, no 5, and no three-of-a-kind):
- 1 die: about 67% bust
- 2 dice: about 44% bust
- 3 dice: about 28% bust
- 4 dice: about 16% bust
- 5 dice: about 8% bust
Loaded dice change these numbers, so they only apply when you both play with normal dice.
04Strategy: When to Bank
A simple rule: multiply your bust chance by the points you would lose. If that loss is bigger than what an extra roll is likely to earn, bank.
- Bank when you are down to one or two dice with a decent pile of points — a 44%–67% bust chance is rarely worth it.
- Keep rolling with four or five dice while the pile is small; the bust chance is low.
- Aim for three of a kind or better rather than collecting lone 5s — guides recommend avoiding single fives when you have alternatives.
- Don't set aside more than you must when it leaves you with few dice: keeping more dice in hand lowers your next bust chance.
- Watch the score: when your opponent is close to the target, take more risk; when you lead, bank early.
05Special Dice
Loaded dice are the biggest shortcut in the minigame. You can buy or steal them, loot them from containers, or receive them from quests. Common examples:
- Saint Antiochus' Die: always rolls a 3, and it is widely ranked as the strongest die in the game. Six of them guarantee 2,400 points (six 3s) on the first roll. One reported location is a beehive near Lower Semine Mill.
- Devil's Head Die: the devil's head face is a joker that can stand in for any number to complete a set or a straight. One reported location is the left grave at the Pagan Burial Site in Trosky, near Cabbage Cave — you need a spade to dig up the grave.
- Odd Die: strongly favours the odd faces 1, 3 and 5 (roughly 28.6% each per source data versus about 4.8% for each even face), so dead 2s, 4s and 6s are rare but still possible (a lone 3 scores nothing by itself).
- Weighted dice (weighted toward 1, 5, 3 or even numbers) are less dramatic but still improve your odds.
Other sources list additional locations for these dice (taverns, quests, other NPCs), but they disagree on details, so confirm in game. Note that NPCs can cheat too — some guides report opponents seem to roll suspiciously well.
06Badges
Badges are collectible modifiers ranked tin, silver and gold that change the rules of a match, for example by adding an extra die or letting you reroll. They come from looting or from merchants. If you and your opponent both use a badge of the same tier, you can use it during the game. Gold badges have the strongest effects. Check each badge's description before you wager it.
FAQ
What are the dice rules in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2?
You roll six dice, set aside at least one scoring die each roll, and either bank your points or roll the rest. Rolling nothing that scores is a bust and you lose the points from that turn. First to the target score wins.
What does each combination score in KCD2 dice?
A 1 is 100 and a 5 is 50. Three of a kind is 1,000 for 1s and 200–600 for 2s–6s; each extra matching die doubles it. Straights: 1-5 is 500, 2-6 is 750, 1-6 is 1,500.
How do you always win at dice in KCD2?
There is no guaranteed method, but Saint Antiochus' Die (always rolls 3) is widely considered the strongest loaded die. Otherwise, bank early with few dice left and go for three of a kind.
Where do you find the Devil's Head die in KCD2?
One reported location is the left grave at the Pagan Burial Site in Trosky, near Cabbage Cave. It acts as a joker face that can stand in for any number in a combination.
What are dice badges in KCD2?
Modifiers in tin, silver and gold tiers that change match rules, such as adding an extra die. When you and your opponent use the same tier, you can use the badge in the game.
