WoW: Forever PvP Guide Battlegrounds, Honor & Rank (Beta)

World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, 2026, and its PvP is built around the classic battleground formula: queue up, capture objectives, and earn Honor toward gear and rank. The beta is capped at level 20, so most of what's below comes from beta datamining and tracker sites rather than Blizzard's own patch notes — this guide sticks to what multiple trackers agree on and flags the rest as unconfirmed.

01Battlegrounds and Their Level Ranges

Two independent trackers give matching level brackets for the four confirmed battlegrounds:

• Warsong Gulch — 10v10 capture-the-flag, levels 10–60. The earliest battleground you can queue for.
• Arathi Basin — 15v15 base control, levels 20–60. Hold resource nodes to reach the score cap.
• Darkspear Islands — a new 15v15 battleground, levels 30–60, mixing Arathi Basin-style base control with flag captures.
• Alterac Valley — the large-scale 40-per-side battle, levels 51–60. One beta-testing guide independently confirms level 51 as the entry point, matching classic Alterac Valley's historic level requirement.

A fifth map, Battle for Gilneas, is listed by one tracker as part of the battleground rotation, but its level requirement hasn't been published yet — treat it as unconfirmed until the beta or launch patch notes confirm a bracket.

02How Honor Works

You earn Honor by defeating members of the opposing faction in PvP combat, primarily through battlegrounds. Honor is a spendable currency for PvP vendors, not a score that raises your rank — the two systems are separate.

Two sources agree you can hold a maximum of 15,000 Honor at once, so spend it down at a vendor before you cap out and start losing potential Honor gains.

03The Rank System

Rank Points are the currency that actually advances your PvP rank — you earn them from battleground participation and from PvP-related tasks. Two sources independently confirm a 14-rank ladder, topping out at the classic Grand Marshal (Alliance) / High Warlord (Horde) title at rank 14.

Because Honor and Rank Points are tracked separately, grinding Honor alone won't move you up the ladder — you need Rank Points specifically, which come from the same battleground activity but count differently.

04What Isn't Confirmed Yet

• Exact Rank Point thresholds per rank — only cited by a single source so far; wait for official patch notes before treating any specific total as final.
• Battle for Gilneas's level bracket — the map is mentioned in the rotation but no tracker has published its level range.
• Full honor/vendor rollout timing — trackers describe fuller PvP-vendor access opening up alongside Arathi Basin around level 20, but Blizzard hasn't confirmed this as an explicit milestone.
• World PvP specifics — a PvP ruleset enabling open-world faction conflict is mentioned, but without flying mounts available at this stage, exact contested zones and mechanics are still being tested in the beta.

05Getting Ready for PvP

• Level through the zones covered in our Leveling Guide — Warsong Gulch is available from level 10, so you can start earning Honor well before max level.
• Check our Dungeons Guide and Best Class Guide for role fit — PvP gear and dungeon gear overlap early on, so leveling gear choices matter for both.
• Don't overcommit to a single battleground while brackets are still shifting in the beta — rotate between Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin once both are available to your level range.
