WoW: Forever Best Class Pick by Role, Not by Tier List

Which class should you play in WoW: Forever (World of Warcraft: Forever)? Nobody can rank level-60 balance yet — the beta is capped at level 20 — but the guides we cross-checked agree on a practical answer: pick your role first, then the class. This page turns that into a short picker for solo leveling, tanking, healing and group play.

01Why There Is No Honest Tier List Yet

Every class and spec is being reworked for Forever, and the beta opened with a level 20 cap that is planned to rise to 30. Two independent beginner guides state that level-60 balance will not be visible until the game is out, and one notes that no definitive DPS ranking exists because beta tuning will keep shifting things.

So this guide sticks to what the sources agree on: role fit, self-sufficiency and how forgiving a class is. Treat anything more specific as provisional and re-check after the November 4 launch.

02All Nine Classes Are Available

The beta offers all nine classes, and Forever adds six new race-class combinations (for example Undead Paladin, Dwarf Shaman and Orc Mage). Faction is still a permanent choice — there is no cross-faction play — so check our race and class combinations guide before you commit.

03Best Class for Solo Leveling

Hunter and Warlock are the consistent recommendation. A pet holds enemy attention while you deal damage or recover, so downtime stays low.

Mage is the third common pick: it is self-sufficient with food and water and kills from range. One guide puts a solo kill at roughly 10 to 15 seconds per regular mob, which is a beta observation, not a promise.

Paladin is described as slower but safe, thanks to defensive tools.

04Best Tank

Warrior and Paladin are named as tanks by all the sources; Druid is listed as an option by one. Paladin is reported to gain Forever-specific changes, including Seal of Fury and a Judgment taunt. Whether Paladin or Warrior tanks better is disputed between sources, so choose the one whose playstyle you enjoy.

05Best Healer

Priest is the pure healing specialist and a strong dungeon healer. Shaman, Paladin and Druid can heal too, while keeping other roles open. Guides differ on whether Holy Priest or Restoration Shaman is ahead, so treat that as unsettled.

06Best for Groups and Dungeons

Groups look for a tank and a healer first, so a Warrior, Paladin, Priest, Shaman or Druid tends to find a party quickest. If you want a group to find you, pick a tank or healer. Our dungeons guide covers what to expect once you queue.

07Can't Decide? Pick Druid or Reroll Freely

Druid is the usual answer for the undecided, since it can move between Feral, Restoration and Balance roles on one character.

Rerolling is also less costly than it sounds: one guide notes that reaching level 25 grants Legacy points, so time on a first character is not wasted.
