WoW Forever Talent Builds How Talents Work vs Classic

Updated October 20267 min readBy

WoW Forever (World of Warcraft: Forever, launching November 4, 2026) keeps the Classic talent skeleton: three trees per class, your first point at level 10, and a free split between trees. The big change is a new milestone at 16 points in every tree, plus many reworked talents and a few buffs moved out of the trees. Everything about specific talents below is a beta value from third-party guides reading the beta client, so treat exact builds as provisional until launch. No one has raid logs yet, so this guide gives you the rules and planning habits, not a tier list.

01The Rules in Short

Dual specialization is not confirmed. A BlizzCon demo showed a locked secondary tab and beta strings mention primary and secondary specs, but Blizzard has not said how it works or what it costs.

02What the New 16-Point Milestone Means

The milestone thresholds count points you have spent in that tree, not your character level. Your character level only limits how many points you have in total, so a character at level 26 (17 points if the one-point-per-level calculation holds) could in theory put 16 of them into one tree.

Endgame Tools lists one 16-point talent per specialization from the beta client, for example Spearing Strike (Arms), Ice Block (Frost Mage), Swiftmend (Restoration Druid) and Vampiric Embrace (Shadow Priest). Several well-known talents moved into this new row: Trueshot Aura, Stormstrike, Mana Tide Totem and Swiftmend. Holy Shock, Repentance, Spirit of Redemption and Leader of the Pack dropped to the 21-point row instead.

Practical effect: a talent you used to reach at 21 or 31 points may now sit earlier or later. Do not copy a Classic allocation without checking the beta tree.

03What Changed Compared to Classic

Even cheap talents can shift value. A beta guide notes that Wand Specialization gives its full benefit for fewer points than you might expect, which is why reading the current tooltip beats memory.

04How to Plan a Build Without a Tier List

  1. Pick the 31-point capstone you want (or the 16-point talent if you plan a hybrid), then count the points needed for the row gates leading there.
  2. Fill in the early rows with talents that help while levelling, because the capstone is a long way off.
  3. Use a talent calculator that is built for the current beta client, and note that the Zockify calculator assumes no points were invested through the Legacy System, so adjust if you plan to use them.
  4. Write your whole path down before visiting the trainer, so you only make one trip.

Be wary of damage calculators: one beta guide notes their breakpoint figures assume level 60, no talents included and full damage-over-time duration.

05Respeccing: Where and How Much

There is no reset button in the talent window. You visit a class trainer for your own class in a major city and unlearn there.

During the beta, a respec costs 1 silver if you have not reset recently. After a first reset the price climbs, then drops back after an hour. This is a beta discount. Release prices are not confirmed, so do not plan around 1 silver.

Legacy System points are a separate pool. Blizzard said in an October 1, 2026 beta note that testers would receive 16 Legacy points for the rest of the beta so the system can be tested. Legacy points are not class talents, and they do not change the rules above.

06Beta Values vs Launch

The beta caps early levels and Blizzard is still tuning classes, so beta tooltips and ranks may still change. Keep beta allocations separate from your launch plans, and recheck the tree on November 4. For the beta's schedule and level cap see the beta guide, and for choosing a class see the best class guide.

FAQ

At what level do you get talent points in WoW Forever?

Level 10. After that you earn one point per level, which gives 51 points by level 60 according to one beta-client calculation.

Is there a 16-point talent milestone in WoW Forever?

Yes. Every tree gets a new milestone at 16 points spent in that tree, in addition to the Classic milestones at 11, 21 and 31 points.

How do you reset talents in WoW Forever?

Visit a class trainer for your own class in a major city and unlearn your talents there. In the beta it costs 1 silver if you have not reset recently; the launch price is unconfirmed.

Can you split points between talent trees in WoW Forever?

Yes. You can spend points in all three trees and do not need to finish one first. A row opens after every 5 points spent in that tree.

Does WoW Forever have dual specialization?

Not confirmed. A locked secondary tab was shown in a demo, but Blizzard has not announced how or when it works.

Are there WoW Forever talent tier lists?

Only speculative ones. Nobody has raid data yet, so any ranking is a guess until players clear content after the November 4, 2026 launch.
