Palworld 1.0 Update — Everything New in the Full Release

Updated July 20267 min readBy the HowToPlayHub team

Palworld exited Early Access on July 10, 2026 with version 1.100.427 — a simultaneous launch across Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass. The update is free for all existing owners and delivered 72 new Pals (bringing the total to 287), two new regions (Sunreach and the World Tree), reworked Tower Boss fights, an expanded level cap of 80, a Mutation breeding system, and the game's first meaningful story missions. This guide covers everything that shipped and answers the question everyone asked about their save file.

01What Is Palworld 1.0?

Palworld launched into Steam Early Access in January 2024 and quickly became one of the fastest-selling games in Steam history. After more than two years of updates — including the Sakurajima and Feybreak expansions — Pocketpair announced the full 1.0 release at Summer Game Fest 2026 alongside the game's first cinematic trailer, and shipped it on July 10, 2026.

Version 1.0 (update 1.100.427) is the completion of the vision Pocketpair set out with at Early Access launch: a full story, a true endgame, and a polished, balanced game across all platforms. The patch notes ran to 27 pages and over 10,000 words — one of the largest single updates in the game's history.

02New Regions — Sunreach and the World Tree

Sunreach is a floating archipelago suspended above Palpagos by Paldium energy — the second major region added in 1.0. It contains exclusive new Pals not found anywhere else on the ground map, rare ores including Soralite (the region-exclusive high-tier ore used to craft the best 1.0 weapons), new settlements, and its own Tower Boss encounter (Auri & Shaolong, the Azure Covenant tower, recommended around level 68).

The World Tree is the final endgame zone — the towering structure visible on the horizon since Early Access day one. It houses the game's story conclusion, the toughest enemies in 1.0, the final Tower Boss (Zenara & Astralym, ~Lv 80), and the source of Radiant Gems used for the new Awakening mechanic. Clearing Zenara & Astralym is the current pinnacle of Palworld progression.

Together, Sunreach and the World Tree significantly expand the explorable map beyond the original Palpagos Island. The seven additional small islands added in 1.0 — with volcano, desert, and ruins biomes — fill in the broader world between the main zones.

03Tower Boss Overhaul and New Bosses

The original five Tower Boss encounters were completely reworked in 1.0. Two new bosses were added in 1.0 itself — bringing the total to nine tower bosses across all updates (the Feybreak and Sakurajima towers were added in earlier pre-1.0 updates; Sunreach and World Tree bosses are new in 1.0). Every fight now takes place in a themed arena matching the boss's element and region, replacing the old uniform dark tower room.

The most significant mechanical change: the time limit was reduced from 10 minutes to 5 minutes, with boss HP adjusted downward to match. The shorter clock makes fights a sharper DPS check — a prepared team clears comfortably, but underlevelled squads run out of time.

See the Tower Bosses guide for per-boss element counters and recommended levels for all nine fights.

04New Pals, Breeding Changes, and More Content

72 new Pals shipped in 1.0 — 47 entirely new species plus 25 variant Pals — raising the total roster to 287. They are distributed across Sunreach, the World Tree, and the seven new small islands added alongside the main regions.

The Wing Pack is a new mobility item added in 1.0 — a traversal piece of gear for exploring the expanded map.

Other major additions confirmed in the 1.0 patch notes:

05What Happens to Your Save Data?

Pocketpair's head of publishing and communications, John Buckley, addressed this officially on the Palworld Discord: "You do NOT need to wipe your data for Palworld 1.0." Your existing character, bases, Pals, and world progress carry forward into the full release.

However, Pocketpair also said: "Due to the large number of changes to the game, including overhauls to mechanics and new content, we believe that starting a new character will give you the best experience of Palworld."

This is a recommendation, not a requirement. Both paths are supported:

06Getting the Most From 1.0

Whether you are continuing an old save or starting fresh, a few priorities will help you get the most out of the 1.0 content:

FAQ

When did Palworld 1.0 come out?

Palworld 1.0 (version 1.100.427) released on July 10, 2026, simultaneously on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass. It marked the game's official exit from Early Access.

What's new in Palworld 1.0?

The major additions in 1.0: 72 new Pals (total 287), two new regions (Sunreach floating archipelago and the World Tree endgame zone), two new tower bosses (Auri & Shaolong in Sunreach and Zenara & Astralym at the World Tree — bringing the all-time total to nine), all bosses reworked with a 5-minute time limit, the Mutation breeding system with four new specialty cakes, World Tree passive skills (powerful endgame passives with trade-offs), Partner Skills reworks for over 200 Pals, 13 new weapons, the Aquatic Construction Kit for building over water, the Wing Pack mobility item, new story missions, a level cap raised to 80, and 27 pages of balance and quality-of-life improvements.

Did Palworld 1.0 wipe saves?

No. Pocketpair confirmed: "You do NOT need to wipe your data for Palworld 1.0." Existing character, Pals, bases, and world progress carried forward automatically. Pocketpair recommended starting fresh to experience the reworked Tower Boss fights and new story content as intended, but this is a choice — not a requirement. The Global Palbox system lets you transfer your bred Pals to a new save.

Did Palworld leave Early Access?

Is Palworld 1.0 free for existing players?

Yes. Version 1.0 was a free update for everyone who already owned Palworld on any platform. All new content — Sunreach, World Tree, 72 new Pals, reworked Tower Bosses, story missions — is included at no extra cost.
