Quick answers

When does Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave release and on which platform?

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave launches worldwide on September 17, 2026, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. It is not coming to the original Nintendo Switch. The game was first revealed at a Nintendo Direct in September 2025, with the release date confirmed at the June 2026 Nintendo Direct.

How many story routes are in Fortune's Weave, and who are the main characters?

Fortune's Weave features four separate story routes, each following a different protagonist who enters the Heroic Games in the Dagdan Empire. The four leads are Cai (a boy seeking to free his imprisoned father), Queen Theodora of Saramis (seeking strength to lead her people), Dietrich (a swordsman from Fodlan chasing a worthy rival), and Leda (a musician out for revenge). A customisable avatar character named Eshmel also plays a pivotal role across the story.

How does the class system work in Fortune's Weave?

Fortune's Weave uses a proficiency-based class system similar to Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Characters build proficiencies in weapon types (Sword, Lance, Axe, Bow, Reason magic, Faith, Authority, Riding, Flying) plus a new Infantry proficiency. Class certification exams let you promote or branch into advanced classes — and once a class is mastered you can reclass back into it freely. New classes include the Ornius Rider and Charioteer alongside returning favourites such as Myrmidon, Hunter, Wyvern Rider, and Demonic Beasts.

Is Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave connected to Three Houses?

Yes. Fortune's Weave is set in the same universe as Fire Emblem: Three Houses, on the continent of Dagda, which lies to the south of Three Houses' Fodlan. Some crests known from Three Houses — including the Crest of Gautier and Crest of Dominic — appear in Fortune's Weave, and one protagonist, Dietrich, travels from Fodlan. The game is a new standalone story rather than a direct sequel, so no knowledge of Three Houses is required to enjoy it.
