WoW Forever Gold Making What Is Actually Confirmed

Updated October 20266 min readBy

In World of Warcraft: Forever ("WoW Forever") there is no sanctioned shortcut to gold: Blizzard has said there are no plans for a WoW Token or paid boosts, GDKP raids are banned, and gold buyers will be punished harder than before. That leaves the old way — gathering, crafting and the Auction House. This guide sorts what Blizzard actually said from the Classic-era advice that guides are recycling.

01The Short Version

02What Blizzard Has Actually Said

GDKP: at the developer Q&A held around the beta launch, Josh Greenfield said GDKP runs will not be allowed. The reasons given were that GDKP tends to displace guild-run, need-based loot distribution, and that players without gold face a barrier that pushes them to buy it.

Gold buying: Greenfield admitted past enforcement was too lenient and said gold buyers will be punished very aggressively. Coverage differs on whether this is a formal automatic permanent-ban policy; the primary statements stop short of that, so treat "permanent ban" as a risk, not a rule.

Written follow-up: a Blizzard forum post summarized by Warcraft Tavern (September 28) says Blizzard has always acted quickly against sellers and will increasingly act against buyers' accounts — by removing the gold and/or closing accounts. It also warns that accepting a gift from a stranger can be a problem if you knew or should have known the gold was not legitimate.

Economy: devs said they will monitor the economy and can adjust the supply of materials and consumables.

03No Token, No Boost — So Gold Is Earned

Several outlets report, from a BlizzCon interview with the Classic team, that there are no plans for a WoW Token or paid character boosts in Forever. Blizzard has not published a formal policy page, and "no plans" can change, so don't build long-term assumptions on it.

Practical effect: all gold comes from drops, quests, vendors, crafting and player trade. Other players' gold is the only gold there is.

04Gold Methods Guides Suggest (Classic-Based, Not Confirmed)

Gold-making guides for Forever assume the economy behaves like Classic. That is a reasonable starting guess, but it is an inference, and no source has published verified prices for Forever. Use these as a checklist to test, not as a promise:

Commonly suggested pairings are Mining + Herbalism (highest-value raw materials, more competition) and Skinning + Herbalism (smooth income while questing). These are guide opinions, not tested data.

05Professions Changes That Affect Income

Forever's profession system differs from Classic (camping, blueprints, 600+ recipes at launch per Blizzard's deep-dive recap). Whether the new objects and recipes are tradeable and how much they sell for was not verified at the time of writing — check item tooltips in the beta. See the professions guide for the confirmed mechanics.

07FAQ

Short answers to the questions players ask most.

FAQ

Is there a WoW Token in WoW Forever?

Not planned. Blizzard's Classic team said in a BlizzCon interview that there are no plans for a WoW Token or paid character boosts. The wording is "no plans", so it could change.

Are GDKP runs allowed in WoW Forever?

No. Blizzard's developers confirmed at the beta-launch developer Q&A that GDKP raiding will not be allowed.

What happens if you buy gold in WoW Forever?

Blizzard says it will punish gold buyers very aggressively and increasingly act against buyers' accounts, by removing the gold and/or closing the account. It has not published an exact penalty table.

What is the best way to make gold while leveling in WoW Forever?

Guides recommend a gathering profession such as Herbalism, Mining or Skinning, selling materials on the Auction House and vendoring grey items. That is Classic-based advice, not verified Forever data.

Does beta gold carry over to launch?

No. The beta is capped at level 30 and is wiped before the November 4, 2026 launch.
