Gears of War: E-Day Editions & Pre-Order Guide — Which One Should You Buy?
Gears of War: E-Day's editions were detailed at the June 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, and the gap between them is bigger than a typical cosmetic upsell — Premium and Collector's both buy real early access, not just skins. Here's what each one actually includes.
Gears of War: E-Day has three editions: Standard ($69.99, base game only), Premium ($99.99, adds 5-day early access from October 1 plus weapon and customization packs and 1,000 Iron), and a physical Collector's Edition ($299.99, Xbox Series X/Steam only, with a 15-inch Marcus and Dom statue, a SteelBook, replica COG tags, and everything in Premium). Every edition gets the Exfil Dom Legendary Character Skin and Exfil Legendary Weapon Skin Set, plus early access to the open beta starting August 6, 2026. If you only care about playing the campaign and multiplayer, Standard is enough.
01Standard Edition — $69.99
The base package: the full campaign and multiplayer (Versus and Horde Siege) with no early access and no extra cosmetics beyond the universal pre-order bonus below. This is all you need if you're only after the game itself and don't mind waiting for the October 6 global release.
02Premium Edition — $99.99
Adds meaningful early access on top of the base game:
- Up to 5 days of early access, playable from October 1, 2026 — before the October 6 global release.
- Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack and an Emergence customization pack.
- Four additional seasonal customization packs, delivered over time after launch.
- 1,000 Iron, the game's premium in-game currency.
03Collector's Edition — $299.99
A physical bundle for series fans, available only on Xbox Series X and Steam and sold in limited quantities:
- Includes everything from the Premium Edition digitally (early access, weapon and customization packs, 1,000 Iron).
- A 15-inch statue of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago.
- A custom SteelBook case illustrated by Luke Preece.

05How to Get Into the Open Beta
An open beta begins August 6, 2026. Anyone who has pre-ordered any edition gets early access to it, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members are also eligible without needing to pre-order. Exact beta scheduling and any additional test weekends had not been fully detailed as of this writing — check the official Gears of War site closer to August for final beta dates and how to redeem access codes if you bought a physical copy.
06Which Edition Should You Actually Buy
If you just want to play the campaign and multiplayer at your own pace, Standard is genuinely enough — nothing in Premium or Collector's affects gameplay balance. Go Premium if 5 days of early access and the extra cosmetics/currency are worth $30 to you. Only go Collector's if you specifically want the physical statue and SteelBook — you're paying $200 over Standard for physical collectibles, not additional gameplay content.
