Gears of War: E-Day Editions & Pre-Order Guide — Which One Should You Buy?

Gears of War: E-Day's editions were detailed at the June 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, and the gap between them is bigger than a typical cosmetic upsell — Premium and Collector's both buy real early access, not just skins. Here's what each one actually includes.

01Standard Edition — $69.99

The base package: the full campaign and multiplayer (Versus and Horde Siege) with no early access and no extra cosmetics beyond the universal pre-order bonus below. This is all you need if you're only after the game itself and don't mind waiting for the October 6 global release.

02Premium Edition — $99.99

Adds meaningful early access on top of the base game:

• Up to 5 days of early access, playable from October 1, 2026 — before the October 6 global release.
• Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack.
• Five seasonal customization packs, starting with the Emergence Pack at launch and the rest delivered over time.
• 1,000 Iron, the game's premium in-game currency.

03Collector's Edition — $299.99

A physical bundle for series fans, available only on Xbox Series X and Steam and sold in limited quantities:

• Includes everything from the Premium Edition digitally (early access, weapon and customization packs, 1,000 Iron).
• A 15-inch statue of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago.
• A custom SteelBook case illustrated by Luke Preece.
• A 1:1 scale replica of Carlos Santiago's COG dog tags (zinc alloy and brass), plus an in-game photo of Dom, Carlos, and Marcus together.
• A premium art print (lithograph) of the Feral Wretch — the first Locust creature to emerge on Emergence Day — plus Collector's Display Packaging and a thank-you note from The Coalition.
• Available from October 1, 2026 (the same early-access date as Premium), through the Xbox Game Studios Shop and select retailers.

04Universal Pre-Order Bonus (All Editions)

Pre-ordering any edition — including Standard — gets you the Exfil Dom Legendary Character Skin and the Exfil Legendary Weapon Skin Set, usable in-game starting with early access on October 1, 2026.

05How to Get Into the Open Beta

The open beta ran in two weekends. Phase 1 (Early Access), August 6–10, 2026, was open to anyone who had pre-ordered any edition (digital or physical) plus Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers, no pre-order required for Game Pass members. Phase 2 (Open Beta), August 13–17, 2026, was open to everyone on Xbox Series X|S and PC, regardless of pre-order status. 06Which Edition Should You Actually Buy

If you just want to play the campaign and multiplayer at your own pace, Standard is genuinely enough — nothing in Premium or Collector's affects gameplay balance. Go Premium if 5 days of early access and the extra cosmetics/currency are worth $30 to you. Only go Collector's if you specifically want the physical statue and SteelBook — you're paying $200 over Standard for physical collectibles, not additional gameplay content.
