Sims 4 Money Cheats — Motherlode, Rosebud & More

Money is the first thing almost every Sims 4 player wants more of, and the cheat console hands it over instantly. Whether you want a quick §50,000 to finish a build or an exact balance for a challenge, this guide covers every working money cheat, how to open the console on each platform, and the one trade-off you should know before you start.

01How to Open the Cheat Console

Before any money cheat works, you need the cheat console open. It is the same text box on every platform — only the shortcut differs:

• PC: press Ctrl + Shift + C.
• Mac: press Command + Shift + C (or Ctrl + Shift + C).
• PlayStation: hold all four shoulder buttons — L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 — at once.
• Xbox: hold all four shoulder buttons — LB + LT + RB + RT — at once.

A text bar appears at the top of the screen. Type your cheat there and press Enter. Press the same shortcut again to close the console when you are done.

02The Money Cheats (Every Working Code)

motherlode, rosebud, and kaching work the instant you open the console — no enabler needed. money [number] is the exception: type testingcheats true first, or it won't do anything. Use any of these:

• motherlode — adds §50,000 to your household funds. This is the famous one. It is stackable, so enter it several times in a row for §100,000, §150,000, and beyond. No testingcheats needed.
• rosebud — adds §1,000. A classic code carried over from the original Sims. No testingcheats needed.
• kaching — also adds §1,000; identical to rosebud, just a different word. No testingcheats needed.
• money [number] — sets your funds to an exact figure, but only after testingcheats true. For example money 1000000 sets the household to one million simoleons, and money 0 empties it for a rags-to-riches challenge.

The key thing to remember: motherlode, rosebud, and kaching add to your balance, while money replaces it with the exact number you type.

03Motherlode vs the Money Command

Both get you rich, but they suit different goals:

1. Use motherlode when you just want a fast, round injection of cash and do not care about the exact total — it is quicker to type repeatedly than to count zeros.
2. Use money [number] when you need a precise balance — for a Legacy or budget challenge, to match a specific build cost, or to deliberately give a household very little.

For a typical build, two or three motherlode entries (§100,000–§150,000) is plenty to furnish a comfortable family home.

04The Trade-off: Cheats Disable Achievements

There is one cost, but it's narrower than most players think: only cheats that require typing testingcheats true first flag the save as cheated and disable achievements and trophies for that playthrough.

• motherlode, rosebud, and kaching don't need testingcheats, so using just those three keeps achievements active.
• money [number] does need testingcheats true, so using it disables achievements for that save session.
• The flag applies to the current session — if achievement hunting matters to you, keep a separate non-cheated save.
• If you only care about playing creatively or building, the achievement trade-off is irrelevant — cheat freely.
