Sims 4 Lovestruck Guide: Cupid's Corner, Dynamics & Romance Consultant

The Sims 4 Lovestruck is the July 2024 expansion that adds the Cupid's Corner dating app, the world of Ciudad Enamorada, relationship dynamics, turn-ons and turn-offs, and the Romance Consultant career. It launched on 25 July 2024 on PC, Mac and consoles and needs the base game. Here is what each feature does and where to start.

01What Lovestruck Adds

Lovestruck is an expansion pack focused on romance. According to EA's announcement it brings a new world, a dating app, deeper attraction rules, new romantic interactions and a new career. It launched on 25 July 2024 for PC (EA app, Steam, Epic Games Store), Mac, PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox One/Series X|S, and requires The Sims 4 with all updates.

• Ciudad Enamorada — a new world with three neighbourhoods.
• Cupid's Corner — an in-game dating app for matching and planning dates.
• Attraction, turn-ons and turn-offs — personality and behaviour decide who clicks.
• Relationship dynamics — Wholesome, Steamy, Strained and Unpredictable.
• Romantic Boundaries — set exclusivity and jealousy per relationship.
• Romance Consultant — a ten-level career with two branches.

02Ciudad Enamorada

The pack's world is Ciudad Enamorada, whose name translates as "City in Love". EA describes three neighbourhoods:

• Vista Hermosa
• Plaza Mariposa
• Nuevo Corazón

EA's announcement also names venues such as Mirador del Amor, the bar Laguna del Abrazo and the gym Sudor. Sims can meet singles at lots with the new Singles Hangout lot trait, which attracts single Sims.

03Cupid's Corner: How Dating Works

Cupid's Corner is the in-game dating app. You build a profile by taking a selfie and setting preferences, and the app then shows romantically available Sims.

1. Open the app and create your Sim's profile with a selfie and preferences.
2. Browse the Matches tab and tap the heart to save a Sim you like.
3. Add a saved match to your contacts to start a conversation.
4. Use Ask to Create a Date to choose the date type, the venue, extra guests, and the activities and goals for the date.

EA mentions first dates and anniversary dates among the options. Dates are planned from the app, so you do not have to send a Sim wandering around town to find one.

04Attraction, Turn-Ons and Turn-Offs

Lovestruck adds attraction, a measure of how romantically matched two Sims are, separate from friendship. Turn-ons and turn-offs raise or lower it. They can come from traits, clothing and hairstyles, and certain interactions; EA's examples are a sweet gift as a turn-on and gardening or fishing as a turn-off.

Romantic Satisfaction ties attraction back to the base-game romance level, and positive romantic interactions raise it. In practice, check a Sim's turn-ons before you plan a gift or a date activity, and pick activities that match.

05Relationship Dynamics

Couples now fall into one of four dynamics, according to EA's announcement:

• Wholesome — Sims who genuinely love each other and show it.
• Steamy — a relationship centred on physical intimacy.
• Strained — still together but generally unhappy and unkind to each other.
• Unpredictable — swinging between fighting and making up.

The dynamic describes how a relationship currently plays out, so it can shift with how your Sims treat each other.

06Romance Skill, Boundaries and Polyamory

The Romance skill grows through socialising and unlocks interactions such as a steamy make-out session and a neck kiss. Lovestruck also adds new WooHoo spots.

Romantic Boundaries let you set physical and emotional exclusivity and jealousy for a relationship. EA says Sims can date multiple Sims without it affecting their other relationships, and press coverage at launch described this as support for non-monogamy.

Two new aspirations, Paragon Partner and Romantic Explorer, and two traits, Romantically Reserved and Lovebug, give Sims different romantic goals. New fears, Fear of Intimacy and Fear of Being Alone, can be eased through interactions and counselling.

07Romance Consultant Career

Romance Consultant is the career that comes with the pack. It has ten levels, starting at Romance Newbie, and a branch choice at level 8 between Matchmaker (helping Sims find a partner) and Relationship Counselor (advising couples).

Early rungs include Passion Assistant, Love Mediator and Romance Practitioner. Promotions lean on the Romance skill plus Logic or Charisma. Work-from-home tasks such as sharing love insights and watching reality dating TV also count, so you will use a computer a lot. Branch titles and pay can differ by game version, so check the career panel in your game.

08Is Lovestruck Worth Buying?

Buy it if romance, dating storylines and relationship drama are the point of your save. The attraction rules and boundaries add real depth to how couples form and break up.
