Marvel Rivals Team-Up Finder Season 8.5 Archive — System Changed in Season 9
This tool shows the Season 8.5 anchor/secondary Team-Up combos as a reference archive. Important: Season 9: The Mystery of Thebes (July 10, 2026) completely overhauled the Team-Up system — the old anchor/secondary structure was removed and replaced with 104 new loadout-based abilities where every hero has two independent options. For current Season 9 Team-Up data, check the in-game Team-Up panel on the hero select screen. The Season 8.5 data below is preserved for historical reference.

02How to Read the Results (Season 8.5 Archive)
This tool uses the Season 8.5 anchor/secondary model, which was replaced in Season 9. For historical reference, each hero could appear in Team-Ups in one of two roles:
- Anchor (red badge): The Team-Up was built around this hero. The Anchor had to be present for the combo to activate, and typically received a passive stat bonus — extra HP, a damage boost, or a healing boost — in exchange.
- Secondary (blue badge): This hero gained a new active or passive ability when the required Anchor was on the same team.
In Season 9, this model was fully removed. Every hero now has two independent Team-Up Ability loadout slots, usable with or without the designated partner (Base Effect without partner, Enhanced Effect with partner). The finder below reflects the old Season 8.5 combos only.
03Season 9 Team-Up Overhaul: What Replaced This System
Season 9: The Mystery of Thebes (launched July 10, 2026) replaced the 26 anchor/secondary Team-Ups shown in this finder with an entirely new system. Key changes:
- Every hero now has two Team-Up Ability loadout slots — 104 abilities total across the 52-hero roster. You pick one before the match and can swap mid-match in the spawn room.
- No partner required to use your Team-Up. Without your designated partner on the team, your ability fires at its Base Effect. With the partner present, you get the stronger Enhanced Effect.
- Anchor stat bonuses are gone. The flat +50–150 HP and +5–15% healing/damage boosts that anchors received for being required are removed. Several heroes received Regenerative Shields (a new health type that restores after 5 seconds without damage) to partially compensate.
- Check in-game for current Season 9 data. The Season 9 abilities are documented in the in-game Team-Up panel on the hero select screen and in the season-9-new-heroes-guide above. The data in this finder is Season 8.5 only.
04Practical Drafting Tips (Season 9 System)
In Season 9, drafting around Team-Ups works differently from the Season 8.5 anchor system. Habits that apply now:
- Pick the loadout that matches your draft. Before leaving spawn, check which loadout option gets you the Enhanced Effect given who your teammates picked. You always have two options — choose the one with a partner already in your lineup.
- Stack shared partner heroes. If two heroes on your team can get their Enhanced Effect from the same third hero (e.g., both need Hulk to upgrade), having that shared partner in the lineup provides double value.
- Base Effect is not wasted. Unlike the old anchor system where the combo simply didn't work without the required hero, your Team-Up ability still functions at Base Effect without a partner. You're never playing without a Team-Up.
- Swap loadouts if the draft changes. If you queued with one loadout in mind but your expected partner didn't get selected, switch to your second loadout option in the spawn room to find a better Enhanced Effect match.
FAQ
How do I find which Season 8.5 Team-Ups a hero was part of?
Use the Team-Up Finder above — select any hero and it shows every Season 8.5 Team-Up they could join, as anchor or secondary. Note: Season 9 (July 2026) replaced all 26 Season 8.5 combos with a new loadout system. For current Season 9 data, use the in-game Team-Up panel.
What was the difference between an Anchor and a Secondary hero (Season 8.5 system)?
In the old Season 8.5 system: the Anchor was the required hero who made the Team-Up active; anchors gained stat bonuses (like extra HP) but no new ability. The Secondary gained a brand new active or passive ability as long as the Anchor was alive on the team. Both roles were removed in Season 9's overhaul.
How many Team-Ups does Marvel Rivals have now?
Season 9 (July 2026) expanded the system to 104 Team-Up abilities — every hero has two independent loadout options. Season 8.5 had 26 anchor/secondary combos. The data in this finder covers Season 8.5 only.
What changed about Team-Ups in Season 9?
The entire anchor/secondary system was removed. Every hero now has two Team-Up Ability loadout options to choose from in the spawn room. Abilities work at Base Effect even without the designated partner; the partner upgrades them to Enhanced Effect. Flat HP anchor bonuses are gone, replaced in some cases by Regenerative Shields on hero base kits.
Does picking a Team-Up cost anything or require setup in Season 9?
No. You select your Team-Up loadout in the spawn room before the match — no cost, no unlock requirement. You can swap between your two loadout options mid-match in the spawn room between respawns. Once you leave spawn, you are locked to the current loadout until next respawn.
What happens to my Team-Up if my partner switches heroes mid-match in Season 9?
Your Team-Up ability stays active, but drops from Enhanced Effect to Base Effect until the partner returns (or you switch to your other loadout in the spawn room). This is different from Season 8.5, where the Secondary lost their ability entirely if the Anchor switched.
