Hades 2 How to Unlock All 6 Nocturnal Arms
Melinoë starts every run with the Witch's Staff, but the other five Nocturnal Arms all have to be crafted at the Silver Pool using reagents you find out in the world. This guide covers exactly what each weapon costs, where to farm the reagents, and the order that gets you access to the full roster fastest. This is scoped to unlocking the base weapons themselves — once you have a weapon, each one also has multiple Aspects (alternate movesets) that are a separate unlock system with their own reagent costs; see the Weapon Aspects Tier List for those.
01Where and How Weapons Unlock
New weapons aren't found in runs — they're crafted between runs at the Silver Pool, the glowing circle of light in the middle of the Crossroads staging room where your current loadout is displayed. Interact with it to open a menu showing all six Nocturnal Arms and what each one still needs.
Almost every reagent used for weapon crafting is mined rather than dropped by enemies. The Crescent Pick is the tool that lets you break open ore and mineral deposits — it works in both your underworld runs (Erebus, Oceanus, Fields of Mourning) and Surface runs (Ephyra, Rift of Thessaly, Mount Olympus) — so prioritize picking it up at the start of whichever route you're running if you're farming toward a weapon unlock, since deposits without it are far rarer to encounter.
One weapon, the Argent Skull, is also gated by story progress on top of its reagent cost — it simply won't appear as craftable at the Silver Pool until you've advanced far enough into the main story, regardless of how many reagents you're holding.
02All 6 Weapons and What They Cost
- Witch's Staff (Descura): Free — your starting weapon, no reagents needed.
- Sister Blades (Lim and Oros): 1 Silver. The cheapest weapon to unlock after the starting Staff, and usually the first one players add.
- Umbral Flames (Ygnium): 3 Silver + 3 Cinder.
- Moonstone Axe (Zorephet): 15 Silver. No other reagent type is required, but the Silver cost is by far the highest of the six weapons.
- Argent Skull (Revaal): 1 Bronze + 2 Glassrock. Also requires enough story progress for it to show up at the Silver Pool at all.
- Black Coat (Xinth): 2 Cinder + 2 Adamant.
Silver is by far the reagent you'll need the most of across the full roster, so it's worth prioritizing Crescent Pick runs through Erebus early rather than saving it for later.
03Where to Find Each Reagent
- Silver: The most common crafting reagent — mined from ore deposits in Erebus, the first region of the underworld, once you have the Crescent Pick. You'll need 19 Silver in total to unlock every weapon that uses it, so expect to clear Erebus several times.
- Bronze: Mined on the Surface in the City of Ephyra, the first Surface region — look for piles of old bronze armor and mine them with the Crescent Pick.
- Cinder: Dropped by defeating Hecate, the boss of Erebus, at the end of a run. Hecate drops a Cinder every time you beat her, so this is straightforward to farm — just repeat Erebus clears and collect one Cinder per successful run.
- Glassrock: Mined in the Fields of Mourning, the third region of the underworld route — you'll need to have defeated Scylla and the Sirens in Oceanus before you can reach it.
- Adamant: The rarest of the five — found only in the upper reaches of Mount Olympus, which requires getting through earlier Surface regions first. Bring the Crescent Pick to make the ore deposits that yield it appear more often.
04Recommended Unlock Order
- Sister Blades first — only 1 Silver, so it's usually unlocked within your first couple of Erebus runs.
- Umbral Flames next — needs a handful of Erebus clears for Cinder alongside a bit more Silver, which pairs naturally with early runs anyway.
- Moonstone Axe — pure Silver cost, so grab it once you've built up a Crescent Pick farming routine through Erebus.
- Argent Skull — cheap in reagents (1 Bronze + 2 Glassrock) but gated by story progress, so it tends to unlock itself as you naturally advance rather than something you can rush.
- Black Coat last — Adamant only appears in the upper Mount Olympus regions, which takes the longest to reach, making this the natural final weapon for most players.
FAQ
What are all 6 weapons in Hades 2 and how do I unlock them?
The six Nocturnal Arms are the Witch's Staff (free starting weapon), Sister Blades (1 Silver), Umbral Flames (3 Silver + 3 Cinder), Moonstone Axe (15 Silver), Argent Skull (1 Bronze + 2 Glassrock, plus story progress), and Black Coat (2 Cinder + 2 Adamant). All of them are crafted at the Silver Pool in the Crossroads staging room, not found during runs.
How do I get Cinder in Hades 2?
Cinder drops from Hecate, the boss guardian of Erebus, every time you defeat her at the end of a run. It's the reagent you need for both the Umbral Flames (3 Cinder) and the Black Coat (2 Cinder), so expect to clear Erebus several times over the course of unlocking both.
How do I get Adamant in Hades 2?
Adamant is found in ore deposits in the upper reaches of Mount Olympus, one of the later Surface regions. You need to fight through earlier Surface areas to reach it, and bringing the Crescent Pick makes the ore deposits that drop it show up more often.
Why isn't the Argent Skull showing up at the Silver Pool yet?
The Argent Skull is gated behind story progress in addition to its reagent cost (1 Bronze + 2 Glassrock). Even if you're holding enough reagents, it won't appear as craftable until you've advanced far enough into the main story — keep progressing and it will unlock on its own.
What is the fastest weapon to unlock in Hades 2?
The Sister Blades — they only cost 1 Silver, which most players pick up within their first Erebus run or two. The Moonstone Axe is also reagent-simple (Silver only) but needs 15 of it, so it takes longer in practice than the 1-Silver Blades.
