Hades 2 Arcana Planner Grasp Calculator & Build Tool
The Arcana Planner lets you assemble and verify your pre-run Arcana Card loadout before stepping into the Underworld. Toggle any of the 25 cards on or off, set the slider to your actual Grasp limit (base 10 in-game, expandable to 30 with Psyche), and the tool tracks Grasp used in real time, auto-detects whether your selection satisfies the Awakening conditions for three of the six conditional cards, and lists every active effect at a glance. All card data is verified against Hades 2 v1.0 (September 2025) — cross-check in-game after patches that adjust Arcana values.
01Arcana Planner
In-game base is 10 — expand to max 30 by spending Psyche at the Crossroads.
These cards cost no Grasp but require build conditions. Centaur, Queen & Judgment are auto-detected from your selection above. Moon, Fates & Divinity depend on in-game grid position — check them manually.

02How to Use the Planner
Set your Grasp Limit slider to match your current in-game total before you start selecting cards. The in-game base is 10 Grasp; the tool defaults to 25, which represents a typical mid-to-late game value after several Psyche upgrades.
- Toggle standard cards — click any card in the grid to equip or unequip it. The Grasp meter at the top updates immediately. Selected cards are highlighted gold; the meter and numbers turn red if you exceed your limit.
- Check Awakened cards — the six 0-Grasp cards appear in the Awakened section below. The Centaur, The Queen, and Judgment are auto-detected based on your standard card selection and show a green check when the condition is met. The Moon, The Fates, and Divinity depend on which cards are adjacent in the physical in-game grid — check those manually once you know your grid layout.
- Review active effects — the summary panel at the bottom lists every active effect from your selected standard and Awakened cards so you can verify your loadout at a glance.
- Adjust and iterate — swap cards to stay within your Grasp budget while preserving key synergies. Your selections and Grasp limit save automatically in your browser between sessions.
03Grasp System at a Glance
Grasp is the capacity that controls how many standard Arcana Cards you can equip simultaneously. Each of the 19 standard cards has a Grasp cost between 1 and 5; the six Awakened cards cost 0 Grasp and activate when build conditions are met. The combined Grasp cost of all 19 standard cards is 56 — well above the maximum limit of 30 — so build prioritization matters at every stage of the game.
- Starting Grasp: 10 — enough for 4–6 low-cost cards from the start
- Maximum Grasp: 30 — requires roughly 2,595 Psyche across all Crossroads upgrade tiers
- Total Grasp of all 19 standard cards: 56 — impossible to equip all at once even at max Grasp
- Ash → unlocks new cards (reveals face-down cards in the 5×5 Crossroads grid)
- Psyche → expands your Grasp capacity (spend at the Crossroads upgrade)
The six Awakened cards (cards with 0 Grasp cost) activate automatically when specific build conditions are met — ranging from trivially easy (The Moon: any adjacent card is active) to highly restrictive (Judgment: only three or fewer total standard cards active, which locks out most of the card grid). The first five Awakened cards fit naturally into any varied loadout; Judgment requires a dedicated minimal-card build strategy.
FAQ
What is the Grasp limit in Hades 2?
Grasp starts at 10 in Hades 2 and can be expanded to a maximum of 30 by spending Psyche — the blue resource dropped by enemies and found during runs — at the Grasp expansion upgrade at the Crossroads. The total cost to reach 30 Grasp is approximately 2,595 Psyche across all upgrade tiers. Because the combined Grasp cost of all 19 standard Arcana Cards is 56, you cannot equip every card simultaneously even at maximum Grasp — build choices remain relevant throughout the game.
How do Awakened Arcana Cards work in Hades 2?
Six Arcana Cards — The Moon, The Centaur, The Queen, The Fates, Divinity, and Judgment — have 0 Grasp cost and activate automatically when a specific build condition is met by your active loadout. Because they cost no Grasp, they never compete with your standard card budget. Conditions range from easy (The Moon: any adjacent card is active) to very restrictive (Judgment: no more than 3 total standard cards active, which is a deliberate niche build). The first five Awakened cards integrate naturally into a normal loadout; Judgment requires a specifically minimal-card strategy.
What is the best Arcana card build in Hades 2?
The core loadout in virtually every build includes The Sorceress (1 Grasp — Omega Moves charge faster), Persistence (2 Grasp — more Max Health and Magick), and Death (4 Grasp — Death Defiance charges). Add The Wayward Son (1 Grasp) and The Swift Runner (1 Grasp) for passive healing and mobility at minimal Grasp cost. Once your Grasp reaches 15–20, The Furies (2) and The Huntress (2) provide the best damage return. At Grasp 25+, Origination (5) is the highest-damage card for curse-heavy builds, and The Champions (4) is essential for targeted boon builds that rely on Change of Fate rerolls.
Does Arcana card selection persist between runs in Hades 2?
Yes. Unlike boons and upgrades that reset each run, Arcana Cards remain in your active loadout from run to run unless you manually change them at the Crossroads between attempts. Swapping cards costs nothing — only the Ash used to unlock new cards and the Psyche used to expand Grasp are spent permanently. This means you can use this planner to prepare a specific loadout and then apply it in-game before your next run.
Which Arcana cards should I unlock first in Hades 2?
Prioritize The Sorceress (1 Grasp) first — it requires the least Ash and is universally the strongest card in the game at 1 Grasp cost. Then unlock The Wayward Son (1 Grasp) and Persistence (2 Grasp) for passive healing and survivability. Once Death (4 Grasp) is accessible, unlock it as quickly as possible: extra Death Defiance charges have the largest single impact on clearing early runs. The Furies (2 Grasp) and The Huntress (2 Grasp) are the next best offensive unlocks. Avoid spending Ash on the outer-grid high-cost cards (Origination, The Boatman, Excellence) until your Grasp is large enough to comfortably run them alongside the core set.
