GTA 6 Map: Leonida & Vice City Overview

GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto VI) is set in Leonida, Rockstar's fictional take on Florida, built around a reimagined Vice City. Where past games centred on one city and its outskirts, GTA 6 spans an entire state — Rockstar has now put official names to all six regions that make it up. 01What Is Leonida?

Leonida is the fictional U.S. state GTA 6 takes place in, standing in for modern-day Florida. At its heart sits Vice City — the series' long-running take on Miami, and, per Rockstar, the most detailed city the studio has ever built. Protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos both have ties to the state before the story begins: per Rockstar's own character bios, Jason ends up living in the Leonida Keys working for local drug runners after a stint in the Army, while Lucia was incarcerated at Leonida Penitentiary after moving to the state from Liberty City.

Because the setting is a whole state rather than a single metro area, expect the range of environments a real U.S. state has — dense city, coastline, wetlands, farmland, and mountains — rather than one city and its immediate suburbs.

02The Six Confirmed Regions

Rockstar has named six regions across Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025) and the official screenshots released around pre-order launch on June 25-26, 2026 — not fan labels or leaks, but names that come directly from Rockstar's own material:

• Vice City — the urban core: Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market, and the VC Port.
• Leonida Keys — a tropical island chain in the south, Leonida's answer to the Florida Keys, and where Jason's story begins.
• Grassrivers — Everglades-style wetlands: swamps, marshland, and cypress backcountry.
• Mount Kalaga — a national park in the north, Leonida's most remote region, and where GTA 6's confirmed hunting and fishing take place.
• Port Gellhorn — Rockstar's own description calls it "Leonida's forgotten coast": a once-popular vacation town now in decline — cheap motels, shut-down attractions, and empty strip malls, with a new (largely illicit) economy replacing the tourist trade it used to rely on.
• Ambrosia — a rural, sugar-refining county near Lake Leonida, with a visible biker-gang presence.

03What We Still Don't Know

• A full annotated map. Rockstar hasn't released one — everything above comes from piecing together trailer footage and screenshots, not an official map graphic.
• City and town names inside each region. Beyond Vice City's named neighborhoods, most sub-locations shown in official material haven't been formally named by Rockstar.
• Exact size and how much is explorable from the start. No official figures, and no confirmation of whether the full state is open at launch or unlocks progressively.
