GTA 6 map: everything we know about Leonida

Updated June 25, 20266 min readBy the HowToPlayHub team

GTA 6 is set in Leonida, a fictional state inspired by modern-day Florida, built around a reimagined Vice City. Community estimates put the map at well over twice the size of GTA V's, spanning city, beaches, swampland and small towns — though Rockstar hasn't published an official figure.

01What is Leonida?

Where past games centred on a single city and its outskirts, GTA 6 is set across an entire state. Leonida stands in for Florida, and Vice City — the series' long-running take on Miami — sits at its heart. Expect the variety that comes with a whole region rather than one metro area.

Based on what's appeared in official material, the world mixes several distinct environments. Treat the names below as descriptive rather than a final region list:

03How big is the map?

Rockstar hasn't given an official size. Community mapping projects estimate the landmass at roughly two times GTA V's Los Santos and Blaine County combined — an estimate, not a confirmed number. Either way, expect the largest world the series has built.

04What we don't know yet

A full annotated map, exact district names, interior counts and how much of the state is explorable from the start are still unconfirmed. We'll publish a complete map breakdown — districts, collectibles and points of interest — the week the game launches.

Note: map details are still emerging. Estimates are labelled as such; this page updates as Rockstar confirms more.
