02Lucia Caminos — A Historic First

Lucia is the first major, non-optional female protagonist with a voice actress in mainline Grand Theft Auto history. Rockstar has confirmed she grew up in Liberty City, was incarcerated at the Leonida Penitentiary over a crime connected to "fighting for her family," and was assigned a correctional social worker named Stefanie during her sentence. Trailer 1 opens with her recently released.

Her official motivation, per Rockstar, is to get "the good life her mom has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City" — and she's willing to pursue it through deliberate criminal action rather than, as her bio puts it, "half-baked fantasies."

03Jason Duval — The Second Protagonist

Jason Duval is the male half of the pair. Rockstar's official bio describes him growing up "around grifters and crooks" — after a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, he found himself in the Leonida Keys working for local drug runners. He lives rent-free in property owned by veteran trafficker Brian Heder in exchange for helping with local operations, doing small-scale criminal favors rather than acting like an action hero.

Where Lucia is the sharper-edged, more driven half of the duo, Jason is the one who wants an easy life but keeps getting pulled back into trouble — a contrast the trailers lean on directly.

04Jason and Lucia's Relationship: GTA 6's Bonnie and Clyde

This is the part Rockstar has changed most from every previous GTA game: Jason and Lucia aren't reluctant partners, they're a couple, and the trailers frame their relationship as a criminal partnership that holds the entire story together. The official synopsis puts it directly: "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America."

Rockstar's marketing has openly leaned into a Bonnie-and-Clyde framing — an outlaw couple whose crimes and survival are tied together, not two hired guns who happen to share a job. That's a deliberate departure from GTA 5's structure, where switching between three protagonists worked because their motivations were often in tension with each other.

What sets this apart from past GTA relationships is the trailers' willingness to show quiet, ordinary intimacy alongside the crime.
