Forza Horizon 6 Multiplayer Guide Convoy, Eliminator and Crossplay

Updated September 20268 min readBy HowToPlayHub

Forza Horizon 6's open world is built to be shared. Whether you want to roam Japan with a couple of friends, run organised races, or drop into a 72-player battle royale, the online layer is mostly built around one system: Convoy. This guide covers crossplay, how Convoy works, and how The Eliminator plays out on FH6's map.

01Crossplay: Which Platforms Can Play Together

Forza Horizon 6 supports crossplay between Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam and the Microsoft Store/Xbox app play together freely) — Crossplay is enabled by default when you start the game. A PlayStation 5 version has been confirmed but hadn't launched as of this guide's last update, so PS5 crossplay isn't live yet — expect it to join the same pool once that version ships.

To check or change it: open the pause menu → SettingsHUD & Gameplay, and toggle Online Crossplay. Turning it off restricts matchmaking and Convoy invites to players on your own platform.

02Convoy: Playing With Friends

Convoy is FH6's core party system for playing with other people. A Convoy holds up to 12 players, who can roam the open world together, queue into events as a group, and share progress along the way.

To create one: pause the game, go to Convoy, and select Create Convoy. Friends can then be invited from your platform's friends list, or you can join an existing Convoy by accepting an invite or joining their session directly.

03The Eliminator: Battle Royale in Japan

The Eliminator returns from Forza Horizon 4 and 5 as FH6's battle-royale mode: up to 72 players spawn across the map inside a shrinking play zone and must survive as it closes in, upgrading their car by taking out other drivers or finding better vehicles as the match goes on. Unlike Convoy racing, this mode is played solo — you drop in as an individual rather than as a synced-up group.

Japan's mountainous, vertical terrain changes how the mode plays compared to FH5's flatter Mexico map — expect more elevation changes and tighter mountain roads forcing early encounters as the safe zone shrinks.

04Other Ways to Play Together

Beyond racing and Eliminator, Convoy also supports a wider set of shared activities: Spec Racing (everyone in identical cars), Touge duels, drag racing, and smaller party games like Hide & Seek. Convoy members can also build together in FH6's sandbox creation tools, which support the full 12-player group at once.

None of this requires leaving the open world first — most modes can be launched directly from wherever your Convoy currently is on the map.

FAQ

How many players can be in a Convoy in Forza Horizon 6?

Up to 12 players. The Convoy leader can start races, PR Stunts, or other events that the rest of the group is automatically invited into, and any member can fast-travel to another member's location for free.

Is Forza Horizon 6 crossplay?

Yes, between Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it's turned on by default. A PlayStation 5 version is confirmed but hadn't released as of this guide's last update, so PS5 isn't part of the crossplay pool yet. You can disable crossplay from Settings → HUD & Gameplay → Online Crossplay if you only want to match with players on your own platform.

How many players are in The Eliminator in FH6?

Up to 72 players drop into a shrinking play zone and compete individually — even if you queue in with your Convoy, The Eliminator itself is played solo once the match starts.

Can I queue into The Eliminator with friends?

You can queue in together as a Convoy, which puts your whole group into the same match, but once it starts you're competing against everyone individually, including your own Convoy members.
