WARDOGS Best Settings for FPS and Visibility

Updated October 20266 min readBy

The best WARDOGS settings turn off the expensive effects that don't help you fight and keep what lets you spot enemies at range. Three independent settings guides agree on the core: Global Illumination off, Shading Low, Post-Processing Low, motion blur, depth of field, lens flare and bloom off, NVIDIA Reflex on and Field of View around 95. They disagree on View Distance, textures and VSync, so those are explained as trade-offs. These are community recommendations, not official values, and the game is in Early Access, so retest after patches.

01Settings All Three Guides Agree On

KeenGamer, Destructoid and Games.gg each publish a settings list. These choices appear in all three:

02Where the Guides Differ

Shadows and Reflections: Low is the common pick (Games.gg goes Medium on shadows and Potato on reflections). Either way these are the best places to save frames.

View Distance: KeenGamer and Games.gg keep it High because fights span fields, hills and long streets; Destructoid uses Medium for maximum FPS. Lower it last, since it hides distant enemies.

Textures: High if you have enough VRAM (Games.gg and KeenGamer), Low on weaker cards (Destructoid). Texture Streaming follows the same logic.

Effects and Particle Spawn Rate: Low to Medium. Lower particles if explosions and smoke tank your frame rate.

VSync: two guides disable it for lower latency, one enables it with a 90 FPS cap. Start with it off and cap your frame rate if you see tearing.

03Upscaling and Frame Generation

Games.gg recommends DLSS or FSR at Quality. KeenGamer prefers DLAA for the cleanest image and drops to DLSS Quality if you need frames. Destructoid favours a performance-first DLSS/FSR setting for weak PCs.

Frame generation: KeenGamer recommends leaving it off. Games.gg says to test it only after you have a stable baseline. Aggressive upscaling modes soften distant targets, so move down gradually.

04Low-End PC Order of Operations

  1. Lower the upscaler quality level.
  2. Drop Shadows to Low.
  3. Drop Effects to Low.
  4. Reduce Particle Spawn Rate.
  5. Lower View Distance.
  6. Lower Textures last.

This order comes from KeenGamer's guide. Test in a large battle, not the menu or firing range, because that is where frame rate actually drops.

05Limits of This Advice

None of these values is official; BULKHEAD has not published recommended settings. Hardware differs, so use these as a starting point and change one option at a time. For crashes, error codes or Proton problems, see the crash-fix guide instead.

FAQ

What are the best WARDOGS graphics settings for FPS?

Turn Global Illumination off, set Shading, Shadows, Reflections and Post-Processing to Low, disable motion blur, depth of field, lens flare and bloom, and use DLSS or FSR (Quality is the common pick, DLAA if you have GPU headroom).

Should I turn off Global Illumination in WARDOGS?

Yes. All three guides we checked turn it off, as it costs performance without helping in a fight.

What View Distance should I use in WARDOGS?

High if your PC can hold frames, since fights stretch across open ground. Medium is the compromise for low-end PCs. Lower it last.

What FOV is best in WARDOGS?

The guides that list it start at 95, which Games.gg recommends for long-range sightlines.

Should I use frame generation in WARDOGS?

Not as a first step. KeenGamer says leave it off, and Games.gg says to test it only after you have a stable baseline frame rate.
