Resident Evil Requiem Release Date & Platforms

Resident Evil Requiem — the ninth mainline entry in Capcom's survival horror series and the first to carry that subtitle — launched on February 27, 2026 across five platforms simultaneously. There are no last-generation versions. Below is everything officially confirmed about where and when you can play it, the available editions, file sizes, and global unlock times.

01Official Release Date

Capcom unveiled Resident Evil Requiem at Summer Game Fest on June 6, 2025, during the live showcase that closed the event. The reveal trailer confirmed the February 27, 2026 release date at the time of announcement — no delays occurred between announcement and launch. The game released simultaneously in all major regions on that date.

Deluxe Edition owners received a two-day early access window, meaning that version became playable on February 25, 2026. The Standard Edition and all other purchases unlocked at the standard February 27 date.

02Confirmed Platforms

Resident Evil Requiem is a current-generation and PC title. The five confirmed platforms, all of which launched on the same day, are:

• PlayStation 5 — available via PlayStation Store digital purchase and physical disc
• Xbox Series X/S — available via Microsoft Store and physical disc
• Nintendo Switch 2 — the first mainline Resident Evil title to launch on Nintendo hardware on day one; available both digitally and on a Switch 2 game card
• PC via Steam — available on Valve's platform at launch
• PC via Epic Games Store — available on Epic's platform at launch

Capcom has not announced and has not confirmed any plans for a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version. Those platforms are not supported.

03Platform Comparison

The table below summarises the key differences between platforms at launch.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version has a noticeably smaller install footprint, reflecting the platform's cartridge-forward design and compression approach. Download sizes above reflect the day-one build and may be higher now due to post-launch patches.

04Editions & Pre-Order Bonuses

At launch, Resident Evil Requiem was sold in two editions across all platforms. A physical Deluxe Steelbook Edition was also available at select retailers.

• Standard Edition — the base game only. Available in both digital and physical formats on all five platforms.
• Digital Deluxe Edition — the base game plus a set of additional cosmetic content including extra character costumes (one of which is inspired by Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village), weapon skins, screen filters, and accessory charms. Deluxe Edition owners also unlocked the game two days early on February 25, 2026.

The single confirmed pre-order bonus that applied to both editions was Grace Ashcroft's Apocalypse Costume. Any purchase made before February 27, 2026 included this costume regardless of which edition was chosen.

05Global Unlock Times

Console versions (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S) unlocked at midnight local time on February 27 in each region, meaning players in Europe could start before those in the Americas. PC versions on Steam and Epic used a single global simultaneous unlock instead.

Nintendo Switch 2 also used a midnight local unlock. PC players therefore had the shortest wait in most Western regions, as the 9 PM Pacific time aligned with Eastern midnight.
