Onimusha: Way of the Sword All Collectibles Guide

Way of the Sword's collectible list is broader than it looks at first — some are pure flavor text, others are the actual currency behind your skill tree. Here's what each category does and what happens if you don't finish tracking them all down before the credits roll.

01Story and Lore Collectibles

• Mysteries of Kyoto (8) — quest-based collectibles tied to small investigative side objectives around the city.
• Chance Encounters (18) — optional character or event encounters scattered through the campaign.
• Genma Notes (23) — lore documents about the game's enemies and setting; the only category tied to a Bronze rather than a Silver trophy.
• Lion Dogs (36) — statue-style collectibles placed around the world, the largest single category by count.

02Equipment and Combat Collectibles

• Oni Armaments (7) — the special weapon-like tools tied to your Oni Gauntlet's Special Skills.
• Charms (15) — equipment pieces that enhance Musashi's stats or abilities when equipped.
• Hozuki Pouches (9) — recovery items that hold your healing charges; more pouches mean more heals available per run before you need to refill.

03Upgrade Materials

• Power Stones (54) — the currency behind Basic Skills like Issen, Deflect and Soul Absorption. See our skill upgrade priority guide for how to spend these.
• Oni Stones (54) — the currency behind Special Skills like Oni Vision and Oni Awakening. You won't find enough in one playthrough to max the whole Special tree; the rest carries into New Game+.
• Fine Silk Cloths (25) and Tamahagane (25) — dedicated equipment-upgrade materials, separate from the skill-tree currencies above.

04Is Anything Missable?

No — across all eleven categories, none of Way of the Sword's collectibles are missable. You can keep picking up whatever you left behind after finishing the main story, and New Game+ gives you another full pass at anything you didn't get around to. If you'd rather not commit to a second playthrough just to mop up, you can also hold off crossing the game's point of no return (the mission "The Clash at Rendaino") and keep a manual save just before it, giving yourself a checkpoint to return to for cleanup before you commit to the ending.

05What Carries Into New Game+

If you do move into New Game+ with collectibles still outstanding, several categories persist rather than resetting: Hozuki Pouches and their enhancements, Items, Charms and their enhancements, Genma Notes, and Lion Dogs all carry over. Other categories — including your remaining Power Stone and Oni Stone pickups — respawn in the world so you can go collect them again, which is specifically how the game expects you to finish maxing out the Special Skill tree.
