Mortal Shell 2 All Endings Guide — Main Ending and the Secret Baghead Ending
Mortal Shell 2 keeps its ending count small: one main story conclusion, and one secret ending most players won't stumble into by accident. Here's exactly what triggers each one, and how to get both without sacrificing your run.
Mortal Shell 2 has two endings, not a branching set of many. The main ending comes from gathering enough Ova, clearing the Unfound Path, and defeating the final boss Zmey, the Unbidden. The secret Baghead ending comes from finding Baghead at Desolate Peak, retrieving the Special Moonshine Bottle nearby, and returning to him empty-handed instead of giving it up. Crucially, unlocking the Baghead ending doesn't force you into New Game Plus or lock you out of the main one — the credits roll and you resume from your last beacon, so you can get both in a single playthrough.
01How Many Endings Does Mortal Shell 2 Have?
Two: the main story ending, and a secret ending tied to the NPC Baghead. There's no branching web of multiple story outcomes here — it's a single main path with one well-hidden alternate.
02The Main Ending: Reaching the Unfound Path
The main ending follows the path the game points you toward through Ruk: gather Ova from the Corrupted Gates, then speak with Milos in the Ova Nursery once you have enough. That opens The Unfound Path, the endgame dungeon, which culminates in the final boss fight against Zmey, the Unbidden.
Beating Zmey ends the game — the Harbinger sends the collected Ova to the Heavens, only for the Mether to reveal the Harbinger isn't meant for the Heavens after all, which is what sets up the framing for New Game Plus (see our New Game Plus guide for what carries over).
03The Secret Baghead Ending: Desolate Peak
The alternate ending is reached through Desolate Peak, accessed via Gloomshade Grove. There you'll find Baghead seated on a throne surrounded by other bagged figures.
The trick is what you bring him: Baghead rejects items you try to hand over. Instead, track down the Special Moonshine Bottle near the Illusionist's Cache dungeon entrance, then deliberately return to Baghead without giving it to him — confirming you have nothing for him. That refusal triggers the secret sequence where the Harbinger takes Baghead's place on the throne, becoming the new Baghead.
04Can You Get Both Endings in One Playthrough?
Yes, and this is the part most players get wrong going in: unlocking the Baghead ending does not force you into an unprepared New Game Plus and does not lock the main ending behind it. The credits roll, and you're dropped back into your playthrough at your last visited beacon, free to keep playing.
That means the safe order is to track down Baghead and trigger his ending first, then continue on to gather the rest of your Ova and finish the main story through the Unfound Path whenever you're ready.
FAQ
How many endings does Mortal Shell 2 have?
Two: the main story ending through the Unfound Path, and a secret ending tied to the NPC Baghead at Desolate Peak.
How do you get the secret Baghead ending in Mortal Shell 2?
Reach Desolate Peak via Gloomshade Grove, get the Special Moonshine Bottle near the Illusionist's Cache dungeon entrance, and return to Baghead without giving it to him — refusing to hand over anything triggers the secret ending.
Does getting the Baghead ending lock me out of the main ending?
No. Watching the Baghead ending's credits just returns you to your last beacon so you can keep playing and finish the main story afterward. It doesn't force New Game Plus or cost you anything permanent.
Who is the final boss of Mortal Shell 2?
Zmey, the Unbidden. Defeating Zmey at the end of the Unfound Path triggers the main ending.
Can you get both Mortal Shell 2 endings in one playthrough?
Yes. Get the secret Baghead ending first since it doesn't interrupt your save, then continue gathering Ova and finish the main story through the Unfound Path.
