Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed the speculation directly during the company's fiscal Q1 2027 earnings call on August 7, 2026, describing fiscal 2027 as "a pivotal year" for Take-Two driven specifically by GTA 6's launch — language that only makes sense if the company is still planning to ship the game within that fiscal year, consistent with the November 2026 date.

02Where the 2027 Rumors Actually Came From

The "delayed to 2027" chatter isn't coming from one credible leak — it's three separate, weaker threads that got blended together:

• An anonymous 4chan post claimed Rockstar and Take-Two were about to announce a shift to February 2027 during an upcoming earnings call. No such announcement happened.
• A viral post attributed to a parody account claimed Rockstar had pushed the release to May 25, 2027. X's Community Notes flagged the claim as unsubstantiated within a short time of it spreading, and no legitimate outlet traced it back to an official source.
• Former Rockstar developer Mike York said in comments picked up by gaming press that GTA 6 could theoretically slip to around May 2027 if something like a buggy mission forced Rockstar's hand. York was explicit that this was not based on any inside knowledge of the game's current status — he was describing a worst-case scenario based on his general experience at the studio, not reporting a leak.
