Dead by Daylight Survivor Tier List 2026 — Ranked by Perk Kit
A Survivor tier list works differently from a Killer one. Every Survivor in Dead by Daylight runs, vaults, and heals at exactly the same speed — there is no "strongest" Survivor in the way there's a strongest Killer. What actually separates them is their three unique teachable perks, which unlock for every other Survivor's Bloodweb once you Prestige that character. This list ranks Survivors by how much their signature perk kit is worth farming Prestige levels for, as of Patch 10.1.1 (September 2026).
01Why a Survivor Tier List Isn't Really About the Survivor
All Survivors share identical base stats: the same 4.0 m/s running speed, the same vaulting and repair speed, the same recovery and wiggle rates. Cosmetically they look different and some are locked behind licensed DLC chapters, but none of that changes how they play in a trial.
The only mechanical difference between, say, Meg Thomas and Claudette Morel is the three perks each one starts with exclusive access to. Prestiging a character to Prestige 1, 2, or 3 unlocks that character's perks at Tier I, II, or III in every other Survivor's Bloodweb — so once you've Prestiged Meg for Sprint Burst, you can run it on Claudette, Feng Min, or anyone else.
That makes a Survivor "tier list" really a Prestige priority list: which characters have perks good enough that you should grind their Bloodweb first, rather than which character is strongest to play as. The tiers below:
- S Tier: Perks that anchor the current meta — you'll see them in a huge share of high-level loadouts, solo queue or SWF.
- A Tier: Strong, frequently-run perks that are excellent in the right build even if they aren't universal picks.
- B Tier and below: Solid niche perks that support specific playstyles (boon builds, flashlight saves, stealth) without being meta-defining.
02S Tier: Prestige These Survivors First
- Bill Overbeck: Owns Unbreakable, which lets you recover from the dying state once per trial without help and speeds up your recovery in general. It's the single best counter to slugging — Killers who leave you on the ground instead of hooking you specifically to deny anti-tunnel perks like Decisive Strike.
- Meg Thomas: Owns Sprint Burst, an exhaustion perk that grants a Haste speed boost automatically the moment you start running. It requires no precise timing (unlike Dead Hard) and remains one of the safest, most consistent chase perks in the game.
- David King: Owns Dead Hard, which grants a brief Endurance effect to absorb one hit while injured and running — provided you activate it before the Killer's swing lands, not after. Reworked more than once, it's still a top pick for extending chases in skilled hands.
- Zarina Kassir: Owns Off the Record, which hides your aura, Scratch Marks, and pain grunts for a stretch of time after being unhooked. It's the strongest anti-tunnel tool for repositioning safely right after a rescue.
- Dwight Fairfield: Owns both Bond (reveals nearby Survivor auras at all times) and Prove Thyself (boosts repair speed for everyone near a shared generator). Dwight is unlocked from the very start of the game, so both perks are available to grind toward immediately — arguably the best value Prestige target for a brand-new account.
03A Tier: Strong, Widely-Run Perks
- Kate Denson: Owns Windows of Opportunity, which passively reveals the auras of nearby pallets, breakable walls, and windows with no cooldown. It functions as a live map of every loop resource around you — one of the best perks for players still learning chase routes.
- Feng Min: Owns Lithe, an exhaustion perk that grants a burst of movement speed after a fast vault. It rewards aggressive window play and pairs naturally with loop-heavy chases.
- Rebecca Chambers: Owns Hyperfocus, which stacks tokens off successful Great Skill Checks to speed up your skill-check timing and progression bonus — a precision-reward perk that, paired with David Tapp's Stake Out, forms one of the fastest single-Survivor generator builds available.
- David Tapp: Owns Stake Out, which converts your next Good Skill Check into a Great one for every 15 seconds spent in the Killer's Terror Radius outside a chase. On its own it's a solid gen-speed perk; combined with Hyperfocus it becomes one of the most efficient repair engines in the game.
- Mikaela Reid: Owns Boon: Circle of Healing, which lets you bless a Dull or Hex Totem into a Boon Totem with a 24-metre radius. Inside that radius, altruistic healing (healing another Survivor by hand) speeds up by 50/75/100% depending on perk tier, and any injured Survivor's aura is revealed to the rest of the team. Her second perk, Boon: Shadow Step, extends stealth benefits within the same totem's radius. Boons can be snuffed out by the Killer, which keeps this build strong but not unconditional.
04B Tier and Below: Niche and Build-Around Perks
These Survivors own perks that are genuinely useful in the right build — boon totems, flashlight saves, stealth-focused solo queue — but don't define the current meta the way the S and A tier perks do:
- Claudette Morel (Botany Knowledge, boosts healing efficiency), Jake Park (Calm Spirit, suppresses injured sounds and crow notifications), Nea Karlsson (Balanced Landing, reduces fall stagger and speeds up landings), Ace Visconti (Ace in the Hole, guarantees better chest loadouts), Renato Lyra (Background Player, enables flashlight body-block rescues from a distance), Jonah Vasquez (Boon: Exponential, speeds up unhooking and recovery near a totem), and Élodie Rakoto (Appraisal, reveals a chest and guarantees an add-on) are all solid role-players rather than must-haves.
- Most of the remaining roster — Yui Kimura, Cheryl Mason, Adam Francis, Jane Romero, and the rest — sit here too: fine perks that see occasional play but rarely headline a build.
05A Note on Laurie Strode and Decisive Strike
The Halloween Chapter (Michael Myers and Laurie Strode) was delisted from Dead by Daylight's store on January 19, 2026, after its licence was not renewed. Players who already owned the chapter keep Laurie, Michael, and the Haddonfield map and can still level them through Bloodpoints — but new or non-owning players can no longer unlock Laurie or her perks directly.
Her signature perk lives on either way: players who already owned the chapter keep Decisive Strike under its original name, while everyone else gets a functionally identical general perk called Will to Live, available in the standard Bloodweb without needing to own the Halloween Chapter at all. If you're prestiging for perks rather than for a specific character, Will to Live already covers that gap.
FAQ
Is there really a best Survivor in Dead by Daylight?
Not in the way there's a best Killer. Every Survivor has identical base movement speed, vault speed, and repair speed — the character you play as changes nothing mechanically. The only real difference is which three teachable perks each character starts with exclusive access to, which is why Survivor tier lists rank characters by perk value rather than raw power.
Who should I Prestige first for the best perks?
Dwight Fairfield is the strongest starting point since he's unlocked from the beginning and owns both Bond and Prove Thyself. After that, Bill Overbeck (Unbreakable), Meg Thomas (Sprint Burst), David King (Dead Hard), and Zarina Kassir (Off the Record) are the highest-value Prestige targets, since their perks anchor most current meta builds.
Do I need to buy every DLC Survivor to get good perks?
No. Most of the strongest current meta perks — Sprint Burst, Dead Hard, Unbreakable, Bond, Prove Thyself, Windows of Opportunity — belong to base-roster Survivors that come with the free-to-play version of the game or the base game purchase. Licensed characters like Mikaela Reid or Zarina Kassir do add strong perks, but they're not required to build a competitive loadout.
Can I still get Laurie Strode and Decisive Strike?
Laurie Strode and the rest of the Halloween Chapter were removed from sale on January 19, 2026, and can no longer be purchased or unlocked by players who didn't already own the chapter. However, her perk Decisive Strike lives on for everyone as a general perk called Will to Live, which functions the same way and doesn't require owning the delisted chapter.
What's the fastest way to unlock a specific Survivor's perks?
Prestige that Survivor. Reaching Prestige 1 unlocks their perks at Tier I in every other Survivor's Bloodweb, Prestige 2 unlocks Tier II, and Prestige 3 unlocks Tier III. There's no shortcut around Prestiging the specific character who owns the perk you want — Bloodpoints spent in other characters' Bloodwebs won't unlock it.
