Balatro Score Calculator Chips × Mult, Step by Step
Every played hand in Balatro produces exactly one number: Chips × Mult. The calculator below lets you pick your poker hand and level, add the chip values of your scored cards, then chain Joker effects in left-to-right order to see the running total at each step — so you can spot exactly where that extra 80,000 score went, or didn't.

02How to Use the Calculator
The calculator mirrors the exact order Balatro uses internally:
- Poker Hand & Level — select your hand type (High Card through Flush Five) and drag the level slider. The base Chips and Mult update instantly. Each Planet card you've used on that hand type adds one level.
- Scored Card Chips — tap the rank buttons for each card that actually contributed to your poker hand. Kickers (cards not part of the scoring hand) don't trigger in-game, so skip them here. Face cards (J, Q, K) contribute 10 chips each; Aces add 11.
- Joker Effects — add one row per Joker effect in the order your Jokers appear left to right. Pick the effect type (+Chips, +Mult, or ×Mult), enter the value, and optionally name the Joker. The breakdown shows the running Chips and Mult after each trigger.
The tool covers the core Chips × Mult formula and Joker effects. It does not model per-card enhancements (Mult cards, Glass cards, Steel held-in-hand) or Joker-edition effects (Foil, Holographic, Polychrome) — add those as manual Joker rows if your build uses them.
03Poker Hand Base Values (All Levels)
Every hand type starts at Level 1 and gains a fixed increment per Planet card. The table below shows Level 1 base values and the increment added per level:
- High Card: 5 Chips / 1 Mult at Lv.1 → +10 Chips / +1 Mult per level
- Pair: 10 Chips / 2 Mult → +15 / +1 per level
- Two Pair: 20 Chips / 2 Mult → +20 / +1 per level
- Three of a Kind: 30 Chips / 3 Mult → +20 / +2 per level
- Straight: 30 Chips / 4 Mult → +30 / +3 per level
- Flush: 35 Chips / 4 Mult → +15 / +2 per level
- Full House: 40 Chips / 4 Mult → +25 / +2 per level
- Four of a Kind: 60 Chips / 7 Mult → +30 / +3 per level
- Straight Flush: 100 Chips / 8 Mult → +40 / +4 per level
- Royal Flush: 100 Chips / 8 Mult → +40 / +4 per level (same level as Straight Flush — Neptune levels both)
- Five of a Kind: 120 Chips / 12 Mult → +35 / +3 per level
- Flush House: 140 Chips / 14 Mult → +40 / +4 per level
- Flush Five: 160 Chips / 16 Mult → +50 / +3 per level
Planet cards stack: using Mercury twice on Pair raises it from Level 1 (10 × 2) to Level 3 (40 × 4). The calculator handles this automatically via the level slider.
04Why Joker Order Changes Your Final Score
Because ×Mult effects multiply the current Mult total at the moment they fire, placing a ×Mult Joker after +Mult Jokers always produces a higher score than placing it before them. The difference is real and often large:
Example — Flush (Lv.1), one +8 Mult Joker and one ×2 Mult Joker, no card chips:
- Correct order (+Mult first): 35 Chips × (4 + 8) × 2 = 35 × 24 = 840
- Wrong order (×Mult first): 35 Chips × (4 × 2 + 8) = 35 × 16 = 560
Same hand, same Jokers, 280 score difference — purely from ordering. For builds with multiple ×Mult sources (Polychrome, Glass cards, Vampire-type effects) the gap compounds further. The calculator shows the running total at each step so you can compare orderings by adding the same Jokers in different sequences.
FAQ
How is score calculated in Balatro?
Balatro's score for any played hand equals Chips × Mult. You start with the base Chips and Mult for your hand type and level, add chip values from each scoring card (left to right), then apply Joker effects in left-to-right order — additive +Chips and +Mult effects add flat amounts, while ×Mult effects multiply the current Mult total. The final integer (floor of Chips × Mult) is your score.
What chip value does each card have in Balatro?
Cards 2–9 contribute their face value in chips (a 7 adds 7 chips, a 9 adds 9 chips). Cards 10, Jack, Queen, and King each contribute 10 chips. Aces contribute 11 chips. Only cards that are part of the scoring hand (not kickers) trigger chip scoring.
Does Joker order matter in Balatro?
Yes, significantly. Jokers trigger from left to right in the order you arrange them. Because ×Mult Jokers multiply the current Mult total, placing them after all your +Mult Jokers means they multiply a larger number. You can drag Jokers into any order between hands — getting this right is one of the highest-value, zero-cost optimizations in the game.
How do Planet cards increase hand level?
Each Planet card corresponds to one poker hand type (Mercury → Pair, Saturn → Straight, Jupiter → Flush, and so on). Playing a Planet card permanently levels up that hand type for the rest of the run, adding a fixed increment to its base Chips and Mult. The increments are cumulative — three levels of Saturn give Straight +90 Chips and +9 Mult on top of its base.
What is the difference between +Mult and ×Mult in Balatro?
+Mult adds a flat number to the current Mult total. ×Mult multiplies whatever Mult total exists at the moment it triggers. A +4 Mult Joker adds 4 regardless of what other Jokers have done. A ×2 Mult Joker doubles everything that has accumulated before it fires — making it exponentially more valuable when placed after +Mult sources.
How do I calculate my Balatro score for Flush Five?
Flush Five starts at 160 Chips / 16 Mult at Level 1, gaining +50 Chips and +3 Mult per level. Add 11 chips per Ace scored (Flush Five scores all five cards). Then apply your Joker effects in order. With five Aces at Level 1 and no Jokers: (160 + 55) Chips × 16 Mult = 3,440 — a good base before any Joker scaling.
