AION 2 Beginner Guide Leveling, Skills and Gear

The global version of AION 2 caps at level 45, and the fastest way to get there is to follow the gold-marked main quest instead of grinding side content. Spend skill points as they unlock, enhance only gear you will keep, and save Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds for level 45, where they pay better than while leveling.

01Before you click Create Character

AION 2 is a free-to-play MMORPG from NC. The Steam page lists a release date of 5 Oct 2026 and describes the game as PC only.

You pick one of two factions, Elyos or Asmodian, and both factions can use all eight classes (Templar, Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric, Chanter). Fextralife's wiki states there is no difference in combat stats or class roles between the factions, so pick the side you prefer visually or the one your friends are on.

Treat your first choices as permanent. Space4Games reports that there is currently no free class-change option and that switching factions later isn't planned; NC has not confirmed otherwise for the global version. 02Level up with the main quest

Both Fextralife and Space4Games say the same thing: the main questline is the most reliable way to level early on. Fextralife calls it the fastest and most reliable way to advance at the start; Space4Games says the gold-marked main quest gives substantially more experience than ordinary side content.

Clicking a quest in the tracker auto-runs you to the objective, which saves a lot of time. Space4Games notes that Alt+1 to Alt+9 work as shortcuts for the tracked quests.

Level 45 is the global cap (Space4Games and Fextralife agree). Korean-version guides that mention level 50 do not apply to the global build.

Space4Games adds that Regional Missions become useful from level 12 and that the main quest alone may not be enough to hit every Ascension gate, so fill gaps with them rather than grinding mobs.

03Ascension quests and Stigma: the level gates that matter

Path of Ascension quests come at levels 5, 22, 32 and 45, and Stigma slots open at levels 22, 27, 32 and 37, so Stigma content starts around level 22.

Other early unlocks reported by Space4Games: gear enhancement at level 9 and the Daily Dungeon at level 30. Fextralife also gives level 30 for the Daily Dungeon and describes it as a reliable source of Enhance Stones.

Plan your sessions around these gates. When a new Ascension quest unlocks, do it before anything optional; it is the step that gates your class progression.

04Spending skill points

Fextralife states that every level awards skill points and that skills can normally be raised to level 10. Some abilities gain extra effects at skill levels 8, 12 and 16; further skill levels can come from Daevanion boards or equipment.

Skill points can be refunded for a small Kina fee (Fextralife; the amount is not stated), so an early mistake is not permanent. Space4Games advises putting early points into the basic attacks bound to your mouse buttons and notes that three skill presets are available.

Rule of thumb that fits both sources: invest in the skills that define your class and that you actually press, rather than spreading points evenly.

05Gear and enhancement without wasting resources

You will replace gear constantly while leveling, so avoid dumping rare materials into one early item. Fextralife recommends moderate enhancement and not investing heavily in gear you will swap out; Space4Games advises enhancing several pieces by one level instead of pushing one piece high.

Dismantling or extracting gear returns materials. Fextralife says extraction refunds Enhance Stones in full but not the Kina spent.

Fextralife notes replacement gear is often cheap on the Auction House, but note the monetization rules below before relying on trading.

06Free-to-play limits and Membership

The Steam page tags the game Free to Play with In-App Purchases. MeinMMO describes monetization as a shop, a Battle Pass and an optional subscription.

Space4Games reports that direct player trading is disabled in the global version and that using the Market requires Membership; each Founder's Pack includes 30 days. Prices for Membership were reported differently by different outlets, so check the in-game shop for the current figure.

Space4Games also reports that Odyle Energy (which powers reward cubes from Expeditions) should be saved for level 45 content. Treat this as a single-source tip.

07What opens at level 45

Both sources describe a wider set of activities at the cap. Fextralife lists Daily and Weekly Quests, Transcendence, Nightmare dungeons, Ascension Trials and the Abyss PvP zone, with Expeditions and the Abyss gated by item level.

Space4Games gives the Abyss an item-level requirement of 1,000 and says Spacetime Rifts open at level 45. These specifics come from one source, so verify in game.
