Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions — Bosses, Loot & Unlock Guide
Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions is Borderlands 4's fourth paid Bounty Pack, released July 30, 2026 alongside Patch 1.9. It sends you into the Toxic Scowl to settle a war between two Ripper factions, and ends with a farmable boss fight worth running for a new Pearlescent and six new Legendaries. Here's how to start it, what you're fighting, and what it drops.
01How to Unlock Murders and Acquisitions
Murders and Acquisitions is separate paid DLC — $5.99 on its own, or bundled with the other Bounty Packs. It doesn't come with the base game or a Story Pack, so check your storefront if the mission isn't showing up.
Once you own it, the content unlocks after your first encounter with Levaine, leader of the Electi, in Carcadia Burn during the main campaign. From there, look for a mission-starting crate of mushrooms near any Bounty Board in the game's major hub towns to pick up the questline.
02The Setup: The Flock vs. The Blasphemers
The questline drops you into a civil war between two Ripper factions holed up in the Toxic Scowl, a polluted desert canyon: The Flock, a commune trying to abandon the violence that's traditionally defined Ripper culture, and The Blasphemers, an aggressive faction that's taken over an old Order facility.
The canyon itself is hostile even before you factor in the two factions — it's home to Salt Lickers, bandits who've been eating the area's contaminated salt deposits and are, unsurprisingly, increasingly unstable because of it.
The mission is built around branching choices rather than a fixed path: which faction you side with (or how you handle the standoff) changes dialogue, which enemies you fight along the way, and — most relevant if you're here for the boss fight — who shows up to help you during the finale.
03Bosses: What You're Fighting
Murders and Acquisitions adds one main boss and three mini-bosses, all fought in or around the Toxic Scowl:
- BETAMAXXX caps off the questline as the main boss — a large hybrid enemy combining mechanical and biological parts. Which allies back you up in this fight depends on the choices you made earlier in the questline.
- Skank Eyes, Infamous Dave, and MAXXSUPREME — three mini-bosses scattered through the Toxic Scowl. Each has its own dedicated loot pool, so if you're farming for a specific item you need to go find that mini-boss specifically rather than replaying the main boss alone.
Because each mini-boss drops from its own separate pool, treat this like farming any other Borderlands 4 dedicated source: figure out which item you want first, then repeatedly target the boss it's tied to rather than clearing all four every run.
04Loot: Every Confirmed Drop
Every item below is exclusive to Murders and Acquisitions bosses or specific quest steps — none of it drops from the regular world loot pool:
- PRISM (Pearlescent Jakobs Sniper Rifle) — imbues ricochets with a random elemental damage type, and chaining critical hits spawns additional projectiles up to a cap. The pack's headline drop, and BETAMAXXX's dedicated source.
- Silver Sliver (Legendary Daedalus Pistol)
- Overconsumption (Legendary Tediore Pistol)
- Plump Bob (Legendary Ripper Shotgun)
- Hydrowerks (Legendary Torgue Shield)
- Oxidation (Legendary Vladof Repkit)
- Loiter Sploiter (Legendary Torgue Heavy Weapon)
As with other dedicated Borderlands 4 drops, expect your odds to improve the deeper you're into Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode — see our legendary farming guide for how UVH Rank scaling works if you're not familiar with it.
05Completion Rewards
Finishing the Murders and Acquisitions questline unlocks three cosmetics for your account, usable across every Vault Hunter: a Vault Hunter Skin, a Vehicle Skin, and an ECHO-4 Drone Skin. These unlock once, account-wide, regardless of which faction you ended up siding with.
FAQ
How do I start Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions?
You need to own the DLC first ($5.99 standalone, or as part of a Bounty Pack bundle). Then play the main campaign until you meet Levaine, leader of the Electi, in Carcadia Burn — after that, look for a mission-starting crate of mushrooms near any Bounty Board in a major hub town.
What bosses are in Murders and Acquisitions?
One main boss, BETAMAXXX — a hybrid mechanical/biological enemy who closes out the questline — plus three mini-bosses: Skank Eyes, Infamous Dave, and MAXXSUPREME. All are found in or around the Toxic Scowl.
What does Murders and Acquisitions drop?
A new Pearlescent, PRISM (Jakobs Sniper Rifle) — BETAMAXXX's dedicated drop — plus six new Legendaries: Silver Sliver (Daedalus Pistol), Overconsumption (Tediore Pistol), Plump Bob (Ripper Shotgun), Hydrowerks (Torgue Shield), Oxidation (Vladof Repkit), and Loiter Sploiter (Torgue Heavy Weapon). Each mini-boss has its own dedicated loot pool.
Do my choices in Murders and Acquisitions matter?
Yes. The questline is built around branching A-or-B decisions about how you handle the standoff between The Flock and The Blasphemers, and those choices change the dialogue, which enemies you fight along the way, and which allies assist you during the final boss fight.
What do you get for finishing Murders and Acquisitions?
A Vault Hunter Skin usable by every character, a Vehicle Skin, and an ECHO-4 Drone Skin — all unlocked account-wide once you complete the questline.
