01Weapon Categories in Battlefield 6

Battlefield 6's arsenal is split into eight categories: Assault Rifles, Carbines, SMGs, LMGs, DMRs, Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, and Pistols/Sidearms. Carbines sit between Assault Rifles and SMGs — faster handling than a full AR, more range than most SMGs — and are worth trying if you want a middle-ground close-to-medium weapon regardless of class.

02Best Assault Rifles — No Clear #1, But Recurring Top Picks

Assault rifles are where community tier lists disagree the most. Three weapons repeatedly show up near the top across different guides, but which one lands at #1 varies by source: NVO-228E, M16A4, and KORD 6P67 each get named as a top-tier pick, and none of them holds a consistent, undisputed lead.

• NVO-228E — favoured for aggressive, close-to-medium play with faster handling than most full-size ARs.
• M16A4 — recurring pick for damage consistency and manageable recoil across engagement ranges.
• KORD 6P67 — frequently cited for its rate of fire, which pairs well with close-quarters objective play.

03Best SMGs (Engineer) — KV9 Is the Clearest Consensus Pick

SMGs are the one category with genuine agreement across sources. The KV9 (Kriss Vector) is the most consistently top-ranked SMG in Battlefield 6, cited repeatedly for its very high rate of fire and fast time-to-kill at close range — its main trade-off is a small magazine (17 or 27 rounds depending on the magazine attachment), so reload timing matters more than with slower-firing alternatives.

The PW5A3 is the next most recommended SMG, favoured for more controllable recoil and consistency out to the upper end of SMG range. It's a strong pick if the KV9's small magazine doesn't fit your playstyle.

For Support players, the DRS-IAR and RPK-74M are the recurring top two LMGs across current tier lists — both are effectively Assault Rifles reconfigured as LMGs, which is why they outperform more traditional light machine guns. Most standard multiplayer rankings put the DRS-IAR slightly ahead for its snappier time-to-kill and above-average handling, with the RPK-74M valued for being easier to control at the cost of lower damage; a few Battle Royale-focused tier lists flip that order. Either is a reasonable default pick for sustained suppression and objective holding.

05Best Snipers & DMRs (Recon) — M2010 ESR Is the Standout

Recon has the strongest consensus of any class. The M2010 ESR is the most frequently cited top pick for long-range play across current guides, named more consistently than any other weapon in this roundup — it also carries the highest base muzzle velocity of any Recon sniper. The PSR is a recurring alternative, generally recommended for specializing in ultra-long-range shots (roughly 75–150m) with a fully-suppressed, high-velocity build, even though its own velocity trails the M2010 ESR's.

06What Changed in Season 4: Pacific Front

Season 4, "Pacific Front" (Update 1.4.1.0, released July 21, 2026), is primarily a naval and movement content update rather than a major weapon-balance patch. It did add three new weapons to the arsenal: BROD 3 (Carbine), EF88 (Assault Rifle), and VSSM (DMR). None of the three had accumulated enough independent community tier-list coverage at time of writing to place definitively — worth trying, but treat any early claims about where they rank as provisional until more guides weigh in.

07How to Use This List

• Don't chase a single "best gun." Outside of SMGs (KV9) and Recon (M2010 ESR), the community genuinely disagrees on a single #1 — any of the recurring picks above is a reasonable choice.
